Chrome Helmets

Saw something where Baylor's chrome softball helmets were tossed by NCAA. Would love to see all the youth organizations follow suit. Cannot stand the chrome helmets on a sunny day and think it could be a safety issue. Am I the only one?

NFHS has declared helmets with a "shiny and/or reflective" surface as illegal beginning this year (2015)

I find it hard to believe that anyone thought this would fly and threw their money in the dumper.

Well we have a few younger than high school age teams around here that wear them and I'm hoping there is formal rule created by ASA, USSSA, and whoever else.

maybe Im an old and out of touch, but I like the matte colors anyway. I thought they were still "new" !! I can hear my dd saying now "dad your such a dork"

I also hate the optic yellow helmets that some teams wear. I really would have thought they'd be illegal by now; talk about a safety hazard.

We started seeing them quite a bit last spring. They are horrible on a bright sunny day.

I hope there is more to this as it would appear to apply to all except helmets with a matte finish. I doubt that is the intent but it would not be the first rule that as written caused more problems than it solved.
