I just submitted some bat weights for the bat weight database thread. It reminded me that awhile back we measured some swing speeds with a swing speed radar and exit speeds with a radar gun. The following weights and speeds from a hypothetical 11 year old who hypothetically hits in the top 5-10% or so in her age group in the hypothetical area she plays in. She used in order as game bats: Age 8-9 a 30" RT, age 10 a 2005 31" RT and currently a 31" RF.

The data was affected by: The batter trying to swing as hard as possible. She was encouraged to swing with good form but it was not all that consistent. It was affected by minor differences between the swing speed radar and the radar gun. It was affected by differences in when the ball was clocked exiting off a tee. All speeds are 7 swing averages in which the high and low speed were thrown out.

In order to really learn something, I think you would have to measure several different girls the same way and compare, so this is close to worthless imho.

Gotta tell you, I didn't feel we gained much by spending our time doing this. I could not convince her that she might want to consider swinging the SRV4B or the 32/22 SCN8B for a bit to try them out. Since we took the time to do it I thought I might as well post it.
