DD is 8 and plays for a B rec league (we're in Southern California). She's a tall, strong kid and her hitting coach has been telling her this season that she'll hit her first home run before she gets to 10U. DD didn't really believe him, but in her last fall ball game she did it!
She hit the ball to the deepest part of center field, still inside the fence but way over the heads of the outfielders. By the time they got to the ball, DD was already rounding second. She easily made it home.
And then after the game she complained that I cheer so loudly she could make out my voice over all the others while she was rounding the bases. (I thought that was my job?)
