I like end loaded drop 9 bats. With proper mechanics, small hand radius and turning the barrel (no pushing) the extra wieght adds whip/speed.

Back in 2018- 2019(and before) ghost was THE bat. And they were pretty much 1 oz overweight. I have 0 problem putting a actual 32-23 bat in a good hitters hands.

Yes, 12U players can have proper mechanics.

Unicorns can handle that at 12u big does not necessarily equal strong…I feel like this is a common misnomer just because a kid is big at 12u doesn’t mean their muscles are actually developed and strong.

It's a good point about actual weight vs label. In 12u, DD had a -11 xeno. Actual weight? -9.5.

She went straight from the 31-11 Xeno to a 33-10 Demarini with no problem. The Demarini was actual weight and more balanced.

No one answer applies here. The player, actual weight, and balance point all factor in.

I Had the best High school softball coach in our area tell me to never go -9 even through high school. She said stick with -10 Even for my power hitter.

Interesting I wonder why. DD changed from an FNX to an LXT since her college is LXT and she likes the feel of the drop 9 better than the drop 10….
