If your kid is 9yo now...unless she's having a birthday in the next month, she can play 10U for two more years. The age range for most 12U players is 11-13. That means some REALLY big differences, as in you'll see some players as big as their coaches. Don't put your kid in a situation where she's overmatched.

Technically, she can play 10U two more years. The age on 31 Dec of the previous year determines what age group a player is eligible for. My younger DD played up on several of her first teams (T-ball - 10U). She was able to compete well enough, but I had her play three years at 10U to allow her to catch up physically before launching into 12U travel ball.

So she would be playing up 2 years if she moved to 12U..that might be a bit much. I thought it was only 1 year. At some point in the near future a 2 year age gap may cause some social issues. That said, like I said, my kid plays up and has a Sept b-day so she has played with kids who are almost 2 years older than her.

So there are 3 different age groups on the team. Teams like that typically don't last much past 12U anyway so while it may be ok to move up with them this year I would definitely keep my eyes peeled for teams in your DD's age group which you might want to join in the near future..

She is actually the youngest and would be the only one that can stay at 10u, everyone else will be forced to move to 11u/12u

If there are kids who turn 11 after Dec. 31 they can still play 10U.

Basically for 2023 season:

2013-9U
2012-10U
2011-11U

They will be 11 this summer so they cannot
Lol..look at what I wrote regarding birth years and the corresponding age groups for the 2023 (Spring season). If they turn 11 in the summer of 2023 they can play 10U in the spring/summer.
