Default USSSA Road to Orlando tourny

Our team will be attending this year, 2016. We are 10u. I'm wanting to take my whole family and make a vacation out of the trip. How much free time is there at a tourney like this? Can I take the fam to Disney? What other options are there? My youngest is who plays (10) but I want to take the other 3 (13,14,& 18) as well. For us, it's a once in lifetime chance to take them all to Disney while we are there. Will I be pulling my hair out trying to squeeze it all in or is it pretty flexible? We are coming form Texas and plan on driving in Saturday morning and leaving Sunday unless we are playing Sunday.
Do not argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

It really depends on your teams schedule and how things fall. There's usually 1 or 2 days off at the beginning of the week where you could schedule it but not necessarily for every team. There's almost always some rain delays that time of year as well as storms come through, so the weather will determine your fate as well. The final games are usually played on Saturday and only the final 4-5 teams will be playing then. Most teams will be eliminated Friday with some on Thursday. All in all, you should have at least an 80% chance of a family Disney day...just keep your options open and take advantage when the chAnce presents itself.

Also, the division you play may dictate the time off as well. In 10u, there will be alot more "B" teams than "A" teams in that tourney. So, if play in A, you'll be more likely to have an extra day off. Last year, there were only 8 A teams in 10u but around 25ish B teams.

One annoyance to be aware of when you're talking about a family of six - Entry into the facility isn't cheap:

Spectator Admission is as follows: $17 per adult per day or $85 per adult for a tournament pass/LOE. For children ages 3-9 it is $12 per day or $60 for a tournament pass/LOE.

It would make me want to have spouse take the three non-playing children on their own adventures during game time.

CB, that has definitely been on my mind. I'm thinking we will drive two cars or rent another car for the 3 sisters to have while there. They will go to some games but not all of them. DW will def want to be at the games. I don't think missing is an option.

Fever, I'm not sure what division we are signed up for but it could be A. That would be a plus to have one day off. Thanks for the info!

Alot of the games will be played at one of the surrounding fields. When we played there 2 years ago, I got away with just buying a single day pass at the disney fields for the first day and then just showing that same pass (as a weekly pass) at the other locations. If you're scheduled to play at the disney sports complex multiple days, this wont work as they use fingerprints to get in. The other locations dont have the fingerprint technology. Just fyi as it might save you some money.

USSSA schedules 3 days for pool games - assuming weather holds you will only play on 2 of those days leaving the third day open to go to the local theme parks. Once elimination play starts you will have games on every day you remain in the tournament, but sometimes if you are on the winners bracket side this could just be one game especially early in the eliminations.

Playing at WWOS @ Disney is a bit of a pain because it is a trek to the fields and expensive, though fun for the kids since they do the whole announcing players, etc. I actually enjoyed playing at the parks off of John Young Pwy more.

Rain messes with all this of course.

It rains every day in Florida in the afternoon. We played games at midnight, mornings and across three countries. The experience was salvaged by a nice timeshare instead of a hotel. There is talk of moving the tournament to dodger town in Vero. Wonder where that stands..

Weather happens.. some years good, some not. No rain last year. Only a little bit the first time we went. It happens.

USSSA will be moving the series to Viera.FL where there are building a giant softball complex. This is about 45-60 min east of Orlando and south of Daytona (close to Melbourne). Meant to happen next year if the Stadium is ready - they seem confident it will be.

Yep lived there for thirty years. Weather is a crap shoot. Didn't realize they were building an entire complex there in viera at the minor league field. Thought that was just the new home for the pride.
