At the end of the game, no matter the result, there is only one thing to say...

"I'm so proud of you. I love watching you play. Let's go get some ice cream."

EDIT: ^^^ Advice from a guy who didn't do this the right way for too long.

Bingo. Been there and done that. My wife would tell me after "you are an idiot", LOLOL.

Wow, this thread is on fire!
Hang in there she will start getting them in the zone. Unfortunately you legs will hurt more and more as the years
pass by. The only part I dislike about dd pitching is it takes so much time I feel like she isn't working on batting enough.
My dd started pitching in rec league. Rec league helps confidence if your able to fit one in next summer.

We're doing Rec too.....She's just getting her feet under her in Rec.... I guess the issue is - 1st year / game in Travel and they don't have any pitchers - I got a report on our opponent Sunday - They are real good.... It's not a fair battle....lol My kid is entering the Thunderdome and has never seen anything like it....

LOL.. yes I can understand how my post came across this way. I am never ever harsh with my kid, but sometimes can be a little analytical and dive into some of things that happened during the game. They don't want to hear that immediately following a tough game.

If I am going to pay for sushi after a game it has to be a really really tough game, like "DD was running to first and her pants fell down around her ankles" tough game

Roll of sushi is like 12-15 bucks. We usually get the combo meal which includes, your choice of rolls, plus salad rice and drink for 16 bucks a plate. Really filling too.

Sushi is our vice .....

How about some advice for Reaperjet on the post-game talk? This is a tough one too. If you're too upbeat after a rough loss, the kid knows you're just blowing smoke. Nobody wants to be too critical and be that parent, either. I usually just say something like "tough game today, that was a good team," and leave it at that. The end result is usually a pretty quiet car ride home, which I'm not so sure is the best thing either.

Advice?
