Thanks for all of the replies. I was wondering how all of you have your DD do long toss...underhand, overhand, how many tosses, how often?

This is how we do it for over hand,
warm up first,
5 steps back 4 throws from each distance,
keep going back until we reach players limit,
use a crow-hop and a long fluid motion to achieve max distance,
then walk back 5 steps 4 throws at each distance,
keep going until we are back where we started.

Under hand,
warm up first,
5 steps back 3 or 4 throws from each distance,
keep going until player reaches max distance,
be sure and use proper mechanics,
walk back 5 steps 3-4 throws from each distance,
when we get back to the pitching rubber,
when back at the rubber we throw 6 fast balls from the rubber.

When DD was playing we would do both 4-5 days a week.

This is the best explaination that I've seen. We did it 30 years ago and I coach it to this day. Note how they stress a long relaxed arm for the long toss portion. The object isnt a perfect throw a bounce is fine but it must be RELAXED! Turn up the heat on pull down!
