Thanks, everyone. Now, I don't feel so all alone. May and June are very busy for me and I can always work someone in, if the client would only message me. I agree with the docking of a paid client and if I make a mistake, I give them a free lesson.

I don't see it as being new to softball, respect for time is common courtesy.
Perhaps the parents work in cable TV field service, or deliver appliances. ;-)

I've had it happen occasionally, but thankfully not too often lately. Sometimes people just space. I had one girl who was constantly going all the time. One time her mom just couldn't remember what day it was. :) But she was really dedicated otherwise so I could cut her some slack.

One of the advantages of working with older girls is they can drive themselves to lessons. Then there's only one throat to choke or butt to kick.

Complete pet peeve of mine.... In our modern technology based society, we can immediately upload photos to facebook or instagram, but we can't send a text message to the coach... I just don't understand it.

It's called respect. Many parents today do not have it for your time.

What I do with new students is I tell them if they call and cancel the day before it's OK. If they call me 20 minutes before the start of the lesson they owe for it. Conversely, if I have to cancel on short notice their next lesson is on me.

My biggest pet peeve is rec parents. I was working with the pitchers in groups from a rec program at a discounted rate. Had the gym set on the same day and a schedule sent out for the entire winter. It never failed. I would get a text or email 10 minutes before the start time saying so-and-so had some type of program for school. They "forgot" to tell me.

Brutal...people should be happy to have so many great instructors. We have very few choices up here and its all HE...honestly I might as well be in Mongolia...People would be a lot more respectful if they didn't have access to resources.

Several times I would get a text or email before class canceling because it was the students birthday. Pretty sure they knew when their kids birthday was way before 30 minutes before class-time.

And I love my kids that come on their birthday! :) Had one on Tuesday that was her birthday.

Not quite the same but last year I coached a team that had 17 players. I would email all the parents days ahead of time to confirm who would be there (for a game) and what time I wanted them there, the night before I would spend about 2 hours scheduling every player every inning to make sure everyone got a reasonable amount of playing time, then ON MY WAY TO THE FIELD I start getting texts (like how do you read texts and drive at the same time?) this kid can't make it. this one can only play for an hour, this one will try to be there but will be late, and then some kids just don't show up and some kids who said they wouldn't be there show up unannounced.

While it is great in a lot of ways, technology also enables people to be disrespectful and lazy.

The older I get, the more I realize that most people kind of suck and cannot hold a candle to a good dog.

Yeah dogs are great til they start scratching their rear on the rug. Kinda funny til DD does it, then its just weird.. LMAO!!!
