IMO, most hitters swing around their bodies. The more inside the pitch the more around they go. The spine is the axis for most.
The reason I ask is I think of "out from the body" differently then most. I'm having a hard time putting it into words, I do know It's different then swing around or being in the plane of the torso/body the entire time like Wiggins. I'll try to put it into words.
If you look at the two swings of Wiggins and Cabrera you can see the difference. One thing is the barrel is brought down into the plane of the body/shoulders as the swing advances. Which gives it that look of the barrel being up above the shoulders as the swing starts. Swinging down might be a way of saying this swing has in it's function. Hitters that get the back elbow above the shoulders (not the hands) often preach down and through the ball with the swing. Ryan Howard and Nelsen Cruz both had/have elbows that are higher then the shoulder (although the hands stayed at shoulder level) and both say their swing was down and through the ball. The body and the barrel might be technically in the same plane the entire time if your looking at posture and bat angle from the start of the swing. Although, from the side view the barrel appears to drop into the shoulder/body plane.
Nothing in the above describes what I see as out from the body. Well not nothing, the barrel path describes what I see.
