I love y'all, truly. I've spent many an hour when I should have been working combing through these forums -this hitting one in particular - trying to glean some nugget that may resonate with my daughter. And yes, I'm choosing to ignore for the moment the fact that she is playing in college, doesn't listen to any softball advice from me anymore, and frankly never really did even when I was coaching her.

That said, spending too much time here always reminds of this video. It's not softball (I wish there was one like for softball), but I'm sure we can all 100% relate to this.

That video is awesome. I've learned so much on these and other forums, and I still learn every day but at the same time go back in the archives here, or go deep googling and you'll find the same discussions have been going on in some form for 10-plus years

Sometimes I have to remind people that hitting comes down to, "see ball: hit ball". Of course there are things we can do to enhance our players swings but there is also a point where players get over-coached and their swing becomes something totally unnatural. I'm the first to admit that my daughter allows herself to become over-coached... right now her HS coach is all about extension and staying on the ball. My daughter's focus to try and please him by get all the way to extension, has led to her her casting her hands some and often not finishing her swing. With that being the case she is not getting her hands through on anything inside and has lost power. Just like in the past, I'm left with cleaning up the mess in the backyard having her do some tee work and front toss.
