Ok...that's why it's an old saying. It's not what good hitters do.

On the right gif can you point out where Bonds is 'sitting'.

So what do good hitters do then?

Show me where I said sitting was how hitting flexion was done. I do want you to explain how a hitter gets sat for me. I would appreciate your thoughts on the subject.

So if someone had a sequence of toe touch, heel down then back heel up would you consider it late? It seemed to be what the video was mentioning that sequence as a solution to enable hitters to better adjust to pitches...is the fear they could be late on a fastball where there is no adjustment to.

It depends, because I believe in trying to keep the back foot planted as long as possible (even though the foot comes up quickly/early). There is a time in many swings where both heels are in the air at the same time. I think that is good timing to work off as well.

Personally I think it is a good video. In my opinion there are a lot of different ways to think about hitting and a lot of different cues that can be used and be effective. It is all in the way they are explained, but more importantly understood by the student. I particularly like the beginning of his discussion. The concept of 'forward yet back' can be very confusing to younger hitters.

In your title it says 'sitting' doesn't it. 'Hitting flexion' is you changing the subject. I thought I gave my thoughts on the posted subject/question.

Your thought was hitters get sat, nothing on the how/why. I did say hitting flexion, I just used sitting because most everyone refers to getting sat as sitting. Please explain sat in how it defers from sitting, I really want to hear your thoughts on the subject.

For the most part in amateurs swings, if they have both feet/heels on the ground they have something wrong. If both heels/feet are down together in a pro swing, they are more then likely making an adjustment.

Shawn, wrt the video and Carpenter, when he is discussing that, I teach that. I use things like high back chairs where my hitters work on that sequence (I use stills of Votto) and go in slow motion. The chair is simply a support for them to hold on while working on that sequence. From there, they jump in and hit front toss. They go back and forth.

You teach the sequence in the Carpenter video? I guess it doesn't matter so much what the feet are doing. Carpenter looks to be flat footed or have both feet on the ground at the same time. Maybe I need to take a closer look of what I consider to be rotating into footplant.
