The COM moves during the FbC. There is little to no movement of the COM during transfer. That is why I asked if they have this backwards. The COM moves during the shift. The transfer happens from toe touch onwards.

Your description fits with the way I was initially labeling the two movements. However, the BBD guys seems to be using "shift" and "transfer" in the opposite manner from what you described here. Since there are a number of us who post/read in both places, it makes sense to me to have some consistency between the sites.

The way I look at it is that the transfer is basically the transportation of the COG of the body through space since the COG doesn't really move in the body. The "shift" will happen because the COP actually shifts from one place to another on the body as the transportation of the COG comes to a stop.

Lol ... consistency ... consider the dictionary ... in which case 'shift' and 'transfer' can be used interchangeably.
