Just take this today, please comment. I think after contact she flat cause she is opened too far just like Eric said, thanks by the way. Any way to fix this??? I tell her to keep her hands still until after her hip starts to rotate, which this video looks like she does. Been struggling for a year with this please help. She has a batting ave of about 580 and has 3 homers so she can hit for a 13year old but man how much better it would be if we could fix this.

Thanks

Just looks like a little arm bar/ front side blocking issue. Her swing is better than my DDs. Second swing looks a little better than the first. In the first video she pulls off the ball sooner. Watch the bat, how long does it stay in the zone after contact?
A better hand path will lend to a better bat path. Tough to fly open and pull off the ball with a good hand path.

Look at her lead elbow 1 frame before contact, note the location. Look at the lead elbow 1 frame after contact. Do you see the elbow dropping? Lead elbow should be working up, to the height of the mouth at contact.

It wasn't me.

Not the best video(most of the top missing). Possible arm bar. Possible bat drag. Possible top down rotational swing. Pretty sure longgggg swing. Need to be short to the ball and long through.
Work on getting into this position.

Hard to tell, my guess is some sort of bat drag/rear elbow leading the hands. She finishes with chest facing pitcher, should get rear shoulder to point towards pitcher at finish. Bat drag makes makes it hard get past chest facing pitcher at finish. Practice a more tilted ferris wheel swing path (more vertical), less around swing path (more horizontal)

So Cal
I tell her to keep her hands still until after her hip starts to rotate...

What we want is the hands getting pulled back AT THE SAME TIME as the hip starts to turn forward - an active movement. Load into the unload. "Hands still" puts them at idle, and will get moved along with whatever else is turning forward.

You might also want to do some reading about coiling on the move forward ("forward by coil"). What we want to see is the right butt cheek turning towards the pitcher as she is striding.

So Cal
Happy Gilmore drill can be helpful with coiling. Stretch and Fire can be helpful with learning how to pull back against the hip.

More than anything else, an understanding by the hitter of what is trying to be accomplished is very important. Have her watch video of high-level hitters with you and compare to video of what she's doing. Learn about the swing together.

Thanks, any drills to fix any of this?

That top hand drill will fix it. The front shoulder is opening too fast... or could it be maybe the hands are lagging behind!

Pull back is very important. All the best hitters have great pull back. Do you think pull back will keep the front arm from being barred across the chest?

Look at the gifs of the top level hitters in this thread. Look at where their lead elbows are pointing. They are not pointing at the ground, lead elbows are pointing to second base around the time of contact and working up. Now you may be able to correct the issues you see by trying to point the elbow to second base but that didnt work for me. I have found that working on the top hand action (knuckles up at extension) shown in the video I linked, quickly corrects the front side elbow pointing down. Also corrects arm bar and even gets that back foot off the bug or as I call it 'gets the back foot out of the pile of poo'. After that is fixed add a little pull back to extract even more power from the swing. YMMV
