I start from the feet and work up when looking at a hitter. Her width of stance look's good to me.

I would start by having her step out 2-4 inches on the inside of her foot ( big toe) with a bent knee. Heel a couple inches off the ground. Then slam the heel and swing. Bent knee is important to get her hips to move a couple of inches forward.

Try this off a tee even if you start mechanical. Load - step out bent knee - big toe. Heel off ground 2 inches pause. Hands back at this point, then slam heel and swing.

See if her weight shifts. I look for there back foot toes pointing to china is what I say. Kids remember that.
When her weight gets off the backside some - tell us if she is hitting the ball harder.

Foundation - work from the ground up. Once she does that well - post a video

Thanks
Straightleg

Still would love something we could look at frame by frame but two things jump out at you immediately. One, she is an excellent athlete. Two, she stands straight up and adjusts for pitch height with her arms. What do you see comparing your DD to the first eight clips here? Analysis

I have to agree with Straightleg, I'd work on the lower half. I think she is a little too upright in her stance - bend at the waist and soften the knees. Stride a few inches more and get to toe touch so y can drop the heel and rotate. She has a good first move, but then the hands drop and the arms lock out. She looks like a solid athlete and has a solid swing foundation, just a few things to tweak.

Well I didn't get that from SL's post but I agree with you and if that's what he meant I agree with him too. Only change I would make to your post would be to replace "a little" with "way".

thanks guys. Will begiin work tomorrow night on posture and lower half. I appreciate your help. She is one of 42 kids tryiing out for 27 spots, varsity and JV. I know she won't make varsity but my hope is to make JV. She works hard when given direction. So hopefully it will work out. I will post clips of tomorrows work. On a sidenote how do I slow down the video?

Thanks for everything!

I would have thought she would have made varsity just on athleticism alone. And NO!!! I wouldn't start messing with her mechanics NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She has tryouts coming up. What she has is what she has. Tell her she's great. Hit her a bunch of ground balls or fly balls as appropriate, give her some bp and go to work on mechanics AFTER tryouts and maybe after the season if she's doing well enough to keep her in the lineup. If she's not in the lineup, go ahead and go to work. If she's so good she WILL be in the lineup no matter, then go to work. You mess with her mechanics now...you TALK with her about her mechanics now and she goes into tryouts THINKING instead of hitting. Maybe not but chances are good she would. She didn't put a lick on this pitch as efficiently as she could or as an elite hitter could BUT...she put a good lick on it. Leave her mechanics and her head alone till after tryouts.

I downloaded your video from YouTube and used Kinovea to slow it down and trim it down.

If he is in the same boat as us Ohioans, he has a little more than a month before pitchers and catchers report. At any rate, I think posture is low hanging fruit
