I'll be she chips the ball a lot, and probably fouls to the left.

As I see it, her barrel bottoms out well past the point of contact (in front of her front leg). It should bottom out just behind the point of contact and then follow the path of the pitch or the hit up and out.

These 2 gifs especially the top one, show his initial hand movement. There not going forward. How many of our dds and players we coach do this? Reward? and Swivel? Back elbow slots, does not get in front of hands. Maintaing the spacing of triangle or box. Sorry not gonna hi jack thread. Nice gifs here RHC.

I'm wondering if there is a specific thought or cue leading to the post-swing hop. Finish high maybe?

Hitter is probably off balance. The hop is the body getting re-balanced again.JMHO.

Agree. Maybe its the angle of the camera...the gif I quoted in post 20 with the spring looks more 'all forward' than these

I don't think so. I couldn't find a way to swing another way without that type of a hop being intentional. Removing that swing thought or objective will hasten the road to recovery, IMO.
