She has a pretty nice swing.
I would only make small adjustments to that swing just to tweak it. Spread the feet 2-4 inches. Bat just a tad taller. Across the pony tail hole on the helmet. Makes the release alittle bit more underneath.
And a couple others but hard to tell on one swing.

Thanks SL,
I posted because I hear about the move or the corner and I'm not quite sure what they mean. I dont know if she's doing those things or not. Thanks again for your help. We'll keep working.

I think you are on track if this swing represents her game efforts. Looks good. Just keep challenging her with front toss, games and high speed machine work. Love to see some other clips of hitting balls coming at her.

Bkbkar----overall, I like her swing. Here are a few thought:

* There is a lot of movement in her hands before the swing. This movement against live pitching will cause her to be late and inconsistent. Encourage her to keep her hands as still as possible.

* Her head is angled too much as she swings. I would like to see her head a little more upright to see the ball better and to ensure she can see the ball better. Also, believe it or not, when the head is tilted, it is more difficult to fully rotate the upper body.

* I know many people believe there is no difference in effectiveness between hitters who hold onto the bat throughout the swing and hitters who release the bat. At her age, I would encourgage her to hold onto the bat with both hands for the entire swing. I can prove that the bat speed decreases when hitters release one hand.

Good luck!

The head tilt ....I agree, some tilt is ok, but it can be excessive some times with hitters...
Holding onto the bat, I teach that but after the ball is gone and on your finish does it matter?
Encourage her to keep her hands as still as possible. You might want to rethink that one. I dont see that in high level hitters.

Could you tell me why you think that, just curious.

I use the one hand release as a tool.

If you are going to insist on hold onto the bat, I am curious how you deal with wrist roll?

If the student has a problem with folding their front arm, and rolling over, I will teach what I call , "Photo opp"
