Better! I'd love to see her hitting a moving ball with those mechanics.

It looks like she's turning back too far with her shoulders rather than coiling into her rear hip, and her hip could lead the swing a bit more.

I agree, much better, great work! Really like where she gets to on the rehearsal swing and how she gets there. She doesn't quite get there on the full speed swing but that's OK. Try two or three rehearsal swings for each full speed swing. Rehearsal swings should start really slow and gain speed each time. Don't stop the movement at any point in the swing, just slow it down. Try to load the hands each time (rock the U) just like she did in the rehearsal swing. Don't straighten that lead leg too early.

VID 20140129 210741 - YouTube Thanks guys! I really appreciate the feedback. On this video she is working on her coil and coiling out. yes" barefooted". What do you think?I will post video of live ball when it warms up in a couple of days.

When she goes to the full speed swing she isn't getting to that balanced position before she starts rotation. If you can, look at the swing in slo-mo and pay attention to the door behind her head. Check where she gets to on the practice swing versus full speed. Some other things to watch: Don't get the weight over the back foot on the toe tap, keep the back knee inside the rear foot. Once the front foot plants rotation begins and the linear movement stops. Don't stare at the tee. Looking out toward the imaginary pitcher should stop her from counter rotating too much as Eric F pointed out. Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see those live swings!

Copy of VID 20140130 203033 - YouTube Taped this tonight. I told her to feel that her chin stays in front of belly button at 50% It didn't work. Is there another idea to get the result we are looking for? Can we say her practice swing is good? If so, we will just exaggerate it to get result on full swing.Should be a pretty day tomorrow, so we will get some live pitching in! thanks again!

This still feels like an arm-powered swing to me. There is a hip turn, but it's not the driving force that provides the power. When she does her slo-mo swing, have her exaggerate the hip turn snap while keeping the hands and shoulders in place a little longer. This will help create the feeling of resistance between the hips and torso.

Something to keep in mind (something that I struggle with constantly with my 9yo DD)...She is still VERY young, and the road ahead is long. Keeping it fun is more important than forcing it to be technically perfect. Where your DD is now is FAR ahead of a high percentage of girls at her age. Keep educating yourself so you stay ahead of her point on the learning curve, and let her guide the progress. As she develops, some of your lessons will sink in, and she will have "AHA!" moments.

You may want to try a static swing. Just have her start with the chin in front of belly button and swing from there. Start at the end and work backwards. No loading, get her to feel what it is like to swing from that position. Yes, I would say her practice swing is good, especially for her age. I very much agree with Eric, keep it fun and don't make it seem like a job. I point these things out just to help you see them and hopefully help contribute to your DD's success.

We went to the cages tonight with her team. She hit the ball sooooo hard. I have never seen anything like it. That look of balance as she coils out has helped so much. I know she still hangs back a little , but just what you guys have taught us this week has paid off crazy good. There were coaches from older teams that came over and watched her hit, because of how it sounded coming off the bat. They were talking about how her swing looked effortless. My phone died so I couldn't record, but I will next week. Thanks guys for teaching me so I could help her. thanks, thanks, thanks!

Awesome to hear!!! Keep at it. Be sure she's hitting lots of moving balls and getting as much game situation practice as you can get. I look forward to hearing your stories of her crushing the ball in a game.
