Swing your DD should be 'working' towards:

What is your recommendation for this issue you perceive?

Not exactly sure, to be honest. I'm no expert.

We (again, our professional hitting coaches who we pay) teach the "short too, long through" with the top hand palm up through impact and to extension. After a long through the wrists roll over and bat comes around the body. I've watched the coaches hold the barrel-end of the bat and walk it around the girl from impact through extension and to the full follow through.

But I don't recall any of them not following through more than the girl in the original post. Part of me thinks swinging harder will help solve it, but that might be simplistic.

What would you recommend? You know this stuff better than I do. Or are you not of the mind that it's an issue?

How much more "long through" are you looking for than this?

No, it's your turn to answer my questions now. I asked you several. That's how a conversation works.

I never said she isn't "long through". To be honest, I can't tell with it at this speed. I need it much slower to tell.

You didn't answer my question. You instead went on a spiel about 'short to, long through' ... yet this girl is 'short to' and 'long through' ... so what was the spiel for?

Help me understand your concern of "She's swinging to extension and then letting up".

I'm convinced you'll find the answer if you work towards it. You'll need to answer the question though. If you are too lazy then that's fine.

Let me help you. Describe what you mean by "letting up". Then describe where you see it in the 'swing'. Then pick up a bat, perform some swings, and learn where this should be in the swing. Good luck.

Yes this is actually the model swing we are working towards. Her coach is Chauncey Bell catcher from Alabama and she has shown her this clip....I'm actually fairly confident she is being told the right things just figuring out how to get her 12 yr old brain to translate what she's being told....the battle

I thought "letting up" was obvious. As seen in the two videos a few posts up, the bat never gets behind her head on the follow through. The older player does.

However, you make people play these games with you, which is a little harsh and psychotic. I get that you think you're "helping us find an answer", but you're a bit condescending and rude about it. I very, very clearly said I wasn't an expert and and just passing along what our hitting coach does. And then I ask you for help and you respond in a non-helpful manner.

So again, what is your thoughts on it? I actually would like to know rather than play these back and forth games where you get to prove you know more than we do. Here, I'll make it easy. You know more than I do. So can you help us all rather than draw this out?

You still haven't explained what you mean by "letting up" ... "She's swinging to extension and then letting up".

The reason to explain 'letting up' is because of where you locate 'letting up' in the swing sequence.

She's swinging to extension and then letting up.

I was going to ask if she's getting separation as it might be that she's all back, all forward. But I think I do see some. Hard for me to tell -- I'm no expert.

TL/DR: Compare her upper torso rotation to Chamberlain’s. (Show the numbers v2.0?)

To me, it looks like her back shoulder stalls. So her front shoulder continues to rotate, but her rear shoulder stops turning. This may be why the top hand releases so soon after contact.

It also looks like the ball deflects the bat on several of the hits - but this may be a common occurrence - a 12” softball has a lot more mass than a baseball - I’ve seen the bat deflect even on men’s swings (and I really need to stop using dashes...). So maybe the deflection is a result of the top hand releasing (or preparing to release) too soon - or it’s just something that happens to a lot of hitters - this part was more an observation/ speculation.
