I mentioned this in the thread you started about your DD last year, post a game swing and/or a front toss swing. It will be more helpful imo. I may be wrong (maybe you can post a side by side) but your DD's swing looks pretty much the same as it did last year..in particular the issues mentioned by rdbass regarding the mechanism by which she turns the barrel. I know you went down that rabbit hole last year and have mentioned it didn't turn out well, but if she learns to use her hands better some of the other stuff may take care of itself. The generation of bat speed should look and feel effortless, right now it appears that your DD is TRYING to create bat speed which often results in just the opposite effect. Sometimes this is a remnant of hitting off the tee which is why I mentioned posting front toss/game swings.

JMHO of course and I realize that if you think she is hitting fine, it may be difficult for you to try and overhaul it at this point.

Here's my opinion...

Your DD is very quick and almost violent and uncontrolled with her hands.
Yes the Bat Speed may be high, but what is her exit speed?
With a striding swing, I thought you were supposed to be "all in" with your upper body (lats, shoulders)...
She's not driving the bat through the ball, she's just swinging the bat really fast (violent)...learn to tame that and her exit speed will soar.

Like tuning a car for speed...
What are the results on the field?
Some modifications work, some don't...

Make "baby step" adjustments in her swing, and take exit speed measurements as well as distance measurements...

With all 3 DDs, their exit speed has drastically increased with all of the help I've gotten off of DFP.

Exit speed is King...

Thanks Sluggers.. yes I agree with most of what you are saying, especially "She's not driving the bat through the ball". She can certainly improve on that. And let's say I focus on that first, what would you suggest I incorporate in her training to improve this.

Not enough time left in the year to overhaul.. so that is not an option. Yes she is trying too hard to create bat speed, I do realize that. She is hitting the ball fine (hard line drives), could she do better, of course, lots of room for improvement. If there were a couple easy fixes I would implement. I will post a game swing later on this week. Thank you

I completely understand. I am certainly no expert as my DD's swing is evidence of. Off the tee I would say have her treat it like a game as much as possible. Have her get into the box and have her track the imaginary ball as she would in the game as opposed to staring at the tee the whole time. Try and get her to have a more controlled tempo, thinking starting early and slow, just like she should be doing in a game. Good tempo, slow and early and then an explosive barrel turn trying to use her hands to create the barrel turn. If you haven't done this already, the Ryan Braun tee work progression drills may be useful.

Your DD reminds me of my little one right now, very explosive but not using that explosiveness in the right way.

Thanks, i really appreciate it. I just want her to get through the ball more. She hits hot line shots and her batting average is good. But the coaches all feel she should be getting more distance on her hits with the bat speed she generates. I think Sluggers made a lot of good points.. I think she is experiencing a lot of glancing blows and not getting through the ball enough

IMHO, your DD tilts to early and then spins. I think the tilt has her compensating the parts of swing. If you tilt early and spin your front leg straightens out and you raise up.

Hi Tango, what do you mean by tilt too early?
