This is not my kid but she came along with our team to Illinois PGF 16u Midwest Regional last week. I'm sure she was nervous as she just turned 13 having played 12u most of the summer.

She came along as our third 16u pitcher if we needed her. At thirteen she hits the 60mph mark so we knew she had some potential, but could she adjust to the 43' from 40'.

In her first couple innings in relief she was nervous and her fastball stayed a bit high most for her couple innings but she showed us enough to start her a day later.

On her first 16u start and six innings of no hit ball our closer comes in to finish the no hitter. I'm pretty proud of this young kid and her hard work. She not only adjusted to the 43' just fine but she dominated her start. After a full weekend of play her ERA was 1.423 not bad for a just turned 13yr old playing 16u ball against college signed kids.

Great job "George"

That's a great story. One of the best parts of softball is watching a kid rise to a challenge.

Are the kids playing up like that, at the older ages, typically pitchers or do you guys see position players doing that as well?
