  1. Q

    Never throw to 3rd?

Never throw behind the runner. Unless you are running a pick off play. We train our girls to throw behind the runner if she is trying to be cute. But there can be no hisitation. It's Bang! Bang! play. Works all the time.
  2. Q

Is it legal to block 1st base without the ball?

yes it's called obstruction. I taught my girls what it is and we use it to our advantage every time we can.

Advice needed..Should we pull DD from team?

My Advice to you... Find a team where she will get playing time. Ask the coach directly what your DD's role is going to be in the long term. Lay out your expectations. Do what is best for your child.
  5. Q

    Pouting

You should have let her go a long time ago! You must send a message.
  6. Q

    Girls using illegal bats. Lawsuits?

You should absolutly take legal action against the parents.
  7. Q

    DD pitching...please offer opinions

She does not to drop down. She will eventually hurt her back. Focus on her Forward Stride. It must be explosive towards the catcher and she must have an excellent wrist snap.
  8. Q

    Hitting Distance Off of Tee

I think you are looking at it all wrong. You want your DD to hit Line Drives. Set up a T about 20 ft out with a ball or a cone on top and make DD try to hit the other ball. Line Drives will get you on base over 80% of the time, that is a MLB Stat. Focus on bat speed. Once in a while DD will hit...

How did you find the Discuss Fastpitch Forum?

I saw one of Marc's video's on YouTube about 4 years ago.
  10. Q

Does your softball player, play any other sports?

My DD wrestles in High School. She is pretty awesome at that too. I’m simply amazed at how good she is at any sport she tries.

Pitching Technique for The Beginner - Which technique?

Fastball is the first pitch, then change-up.
  12. Q

    SB swing -VS- BB swing

The only difference is the plane of the ball. The plane is significantly different. The ball is rising in softball vs the ball is sloping downward in baseball. They even stand on a mound. You must put the bat on plane with the ball to maximize your opportunites of contact with the ball...
  13. Q

    screwball issue

If your kid can stay on the inside with confidence, she will win a ton of games. 90+% of your pitches should be inside, Screwball, Dropball, Fastball, Rise. Have a plan against each hitter. Let them foul off inside pitches watch their feet back off the plate then go outside.:D
  14. Q

    SevenFramePitching - SixFramePitching?

The release should be like a whip. When you crack a whip, you are actually hearing a sonic boom. Sonic Booms are achieved when an object achieves 761 mph. If you can release the ball at your finger tips at anywhere near that speed you will be throwing the ball pretty fast.
  15. Q

the rise up two seams vs four seams

The Magnus Effect. When Spinning the stitches on a spinning ball will cause pressure on one side to be less than on its opposite side. This will force the ball to move faster on one side than the other and will force the ball to "curve." The faster you spin it the more it will curve. The faster...

    Pitching Weighted Balls

You should start doing some weight training focused on building muscle in your arms legs and abs. If you get stronger your pitching will get stronger.
  17. Q

    screwball issue

Screwball The screwball is a power pitch. There is nothing wrong with hitting someone once in a while if they are to close to the plate. It's part of the game. It's my kid's best pitch. I would keep throwing that pitch during games until she feels totally confident in it.

  19. Q

Sorry...I need to rant about this

It's hard to make everyone happy especially in recball as a coach. I'm coaching 10U travel ball now because I thought it would be easier, it's not. Pitching wins games in 10U. Pitchers either have it or they don't. It takes something special to be a pitcher. Your DD needs to keep working on it...
  20. Q

    How would you handle this?

You are the coach! If she wants to be the coach then she needs to take on a team next time or at least help with yours. She has no respect for your commitment to those kids. You do it on a volunteer basis. That Mom has no right to have any expectations. I would cut her just to send a message to...
