    IMO apply it prior to coiling. That being said there is a range of time from "preset at the very beginning", to "applied during gather" the spans the prior to coiling. a simple experiment I have played with is with good ol' socks on a smooth floor. RH batter... do no rear leg inward pressure...

    As long as you have some way to toggle through your own video frame by frame you can easily compare to GIFs. Save the GIF local and open with free QuickTime 7. You can use the arrow keys to toggle back and forth frame by frame. Just have them open side by side and toggle away.
