Question? Which way in most coaches or players mind is the best way an outfielder should recover to het going in the correct position after a fly ball.
Example: Ball is hitting player drop steps back to her right only to realize it is to her left. Should they spin completely around which will...
We did our times from back edge of plate. Fastest time we had was a 3.5 was an 11yr old. My Dr ran a 3.6 and she is only 9
I've read average high schoolers is at 2.8-3.0 So I thought mine ran fairly good.
Been asked to do some individual hitting lessons. Other than focusing on the main basic fundamental of hitting. What some ideas for other hitting drills?
Thanks for the advice.
Recently had a umpire friend of mine explain to me about the 1st reverse call. He said no one knows about it because you rarely see it happen in a game.
Although I do believe if a coach is getting player improvement than w/l will reflect.
Just curious as to what defines as having coaching success.
Local team had lots of talent and lots of wins but I didn't see the player improvement.
What's everyone's opinion? Thanks
Not sure why it matters if they are natural your self taught.to be a lefty. My 9 yr old has been self taught and although she needs lots work to get better she has some power.
We are actually playing our Babe Ruth state tournament there and also the Babe Ruth World Series is being there also. I heard a friend of mine say that the bounces I get are true bounces. We will be playing 8u so the pitching won't be a concern. I'm thinking tennis shoes will be probably better...
Want to get opinions of coaches who have had games on turf fields. Is there a difference between wearing rubber cleats or tennis shoes while playing games on that type of field. Which one would be more comfortable while playing? Thanks
I don't agree when u start playing allstars, but everyone has there own strategy. Not everyone has 10 players that can hit it to the grass. We only have 2 8u teams in our league so we have to do what we can to try and be competitive.
I agree u must be more than one dimensional. We not only bunt but we hit the ball also. I place my lineup where we smaal ball a few players than we have a big hitter up. We just averaged over 12 runs a game in a tournament this past wkend. Placed second. I also seen where our local high school...
Last season in allstars my leadoff didn't want to bunt. Had to sit her half a game, then she got the message. Also in state tournament last year opposing parent said " bunting shouldn't be allowed ", NY response was stop it. They never could.
A lot of 8u machine pitch teams in our area not big fans of bunting. What's everyone 's opinion on this? Btw if player is good at bunting I love doing it with 2 strikes.
That's why before each season I instruct my players to not listen to their parents while on the field during a game or practice. Because them if our coaches mess up then parents can criticize us. But if a player listens to their parents and it cause a mess up, then I am going to be on that...
Player just starting to pitch 10u rec ball, but doesn't fill comfortable wearing a mask while pitching. Should coach/dad make the player wear one. Need opinions. Thanks
