Something I have noticed from one TD is that nobody gets eliminated on Saturday. Winners would play again at say 9 or 10 while the losers were enjoying dinner and the hotel. Mess up and lose that second game in the winners bracket (like we did) and you have the 8am game on Sunday.
I think it...
Take your lumps as a 2000 team. Pick your tournaments and make sure the girls get challenged. You will reap the benefits next spring, and it will make you better in the end.
Thought I had the DD moving away from pitching, but there's a new PC where we hit for the summer, and me and the other AC let our girls take a few lessons. She is a DIII pitcher and really connects well with the girls. My question is about the release. She still teaches an "open the door"...
We were having the same problem show up a couple months ago. She had on a shirt with some white words on the front at hitting, and her coach could really see her pulling out her front shoulder early. He worked with it and now all is better. She was also having some timing issues getting out...
We used to play a few on grass at 8U. Have played maybe once on grass since then. We practice on my neighbors grass infield occasionally when we are using his cage. It is better than the crappy weedy dirt at the church field we have access to. Now that league is over we get the "real" softball...
Player goes all the way down on a drag bunt and bat is actually in contact with the ground. Pitch may have even hit the ground as well. Bunt goes about 3 feet fair and batter is called safe by BU. PU calls the batter back and calls foul ball. Explanation was something along the lines of...
10U here, but I have just as much success with 3rd base side. At our level, I'd just as soon give them the better chance at getting on. 0 outs and runners on first and second is better than 1 out with the runner on second. This same question came up last night at a final. I just told her to...
I just got a 30-18 Catalyst from a dealer (last years model), and it had the "made in China" or somewhere besides the US on a little sticker on the bat side of the knob. I just assumed it was like everything else made somewhere besides the US.
Our #1 pitcher has the same problem (10YO), but puts the ball in play a LOT. actually through 7 games last tournament had 1.000 BIP. She has good speed as well, but just can't get anything on the ball, of course. I jokingly call it "a right handed slap without the crossover". It has to be pure...
One of the girls on my team has a sister going to Arkansas next year to pitch and won a state championship in HS this year. We were talking to her at a bake sale the other day, and I asked her if she ever threw a fastball anymore. She said "not much".
One last thought before I try and put this behind me and get some rest, If the SS just plays through the ball and takes out the BR, she's a lot more likely to get the call from what I read.
I want to understand it a little better, but if that happens to me next weekend, I'm going to be asking...
I hate that it ended up like it did, I bleed maroon (Aggie Maroon, Class of '90). I really want to give the blue the benefit of the doubt. I am sure there was reasonable doubt, and no one wanted to take the game out of the players hands. From the NCAA rules:
12.19 Interference
Interference...
I just throw them in a sink with some oxy-clean when we get home or the next morning. After they are wet, hit the bad spots with a bar of pink Zote soap (laundry section, product if Mexico), and leave soaking. Wash with maybe some oxy-spray and regular detergent and they are fine (I might add...
One thing to remember, different brands can be bigger and still stamped the same. The Nokona's I have seen seemed larger than some others the same size. My daughter is 10 and still using a 12" glove for the 11" ball. She won't use anything but the closed back Mizuno's. We are working on...
Yea, OK, I may be a bum because I can't hit a decent Fungo, but give me a break for trying. No problems with infield grounders, but OF and fly balls give me fits. I bet I hit (or tried to hit) 300 balls Saturday (we had a week off). Grown up fungo bat and all the bats in my daughters bag, I...
We were playing a team this weekend and their pitcher came out in the third without a mask. She had been wearing one all game. After what happened last year, our HC noticed it after a pitch or two and called time and asked her coach "wasn't she wearing a mask?" He said yes, don't know why she...
Had this lately
Never had this problem until this year. Got us a new aluminum "practice bat" and headed to try out the new hitting coach (more on that later). He had a new machine and some shiny new dimple balls (I promise the cheapest he could find). Did some tee work and went to the machine...
We told everyone they were responsible for their own pants this year. Two pair, white and gray. Only problem was they needed belt loops. Most girls pants are getting away from belt loops. We found some at Academy, but no loops. I ended up getting together an order for the white teamwork and they...
