Been asked to fill this position on our team as the previous coach has a job relocation out of state. He forwarded me a few recruiting emails but doesn't look like he did much correspondence. So I'm looking for any websites, articles, examples, etc that can get me up to speed on emailing college coaches, talking points to coaches while at tournaments and anything else I might have missed. Looking forward to this but want to be prepared so I can help the kids and parents.

If you are not up to date on all the ins and outs of the recruiting world I highly recommend Cathi Aradi's book, Preparing to Play Softball at the Collegiate Level. It has a lot of great information to assist players in the recruiting game. It also has a list of all the colleges that have a softball program at the back that is broken down by state. It can be purchased at this link.

Pick up the phone and talk to them. Emails are circular filed on a regular basis. If they and their assistants don't know your email address you are probably wasting your time. Spend this season meeting all you can. Talk to them on the fence line, introduce yourself in the snack line and at the check-in table.

They are looking for players that will fit in their program....don't oversell your players and be honest about their assessment. Burn them and you are toast.

Best thing a recruiting coordinator can do is tell the players and their parents to take ownership of their DDs recruiting process. Too many players and parents sit on their duffs thinking someone else is going to do it for them.

Appreciate the comments.

What are the typical hitting and pitching stats college coaches would be interested in talking about? Want to keep this information on hand in case they ask.

Stats are only as good as the person keeping the book, and everyone knows the book keepers kid is batting .100 points higher than they should be, so most college coaches do not want to talk about stats.

DD's team has a flier done up. Girls head shots(in uniform) with basic info. Grad year, position(s), uniform #, GPA, HS name and individual contact info. No stats on flier. Also had TB coaches contact info. Hanging up behind home plate and usually a parent handing out to any college coach that walked up/by the game. Still, the players job to tell college coaches where and when she's playing.
