No social media may be better than bad social media, but if I was a college coach I would wonder how a player with no social media would fit it with the rest of the team if all of the current players use it. It could be something as simple as her parents will not let her use it, but it would at least warrant some questions.

Oldest didn't join FB till she graduated from high school - her choice - she didn't want to hear all the nonsense going on and I said she was counter cultural. Who you are and your choices as parents count in my book and there is nothing worse then choosing a college program that isn't in line or at least respects the values of its players. You are not alone if you delay entry into the social media realm.

I've decided not to recruit/offer kids based solely on stuff I saw on their social media accounts. I don't care how good they are, don't need any additional drama. You get a pretty good sense for the kid especially based upon the things they like, share, or retweet. It's not always their own posts that get them in trouble. And if their accounts are private, I assume they are posting stuff they don't want their parents to see, so I immediately move on.
What is it's the parents that make them make the accounts private? We make our DD make all her accounts private.
