My take, if you are paying an instructor to teach your child something, but you do not want them doing it the way they instructor teaches it, it is probably not a good fit. So I certainly understand Amy's point. It is something she as an instructor does not believe in.
As far as the glove...
Some positives I see...
She has a nice arm circle. No figure 8 going on.
She is driving off the rubber (or 2x4 in this case I think). Though as others have pointed out she is dragging the entire side of the foot. Need to correct that. That in and of itself can cause accuracy issues as the...
My personal opinion is to follow through on your commitment (unless of course like others have said, the coach is abusive, or your DD is getting bullied. That I simply would not put up with.)
I have been doing this for the better part of 3 years and have seen so many players come and go...
Yup!
No problems with mine either.
I just use it like the directions state. Press the button with the arm at the 12:00 position.
It is very consistent.
Whether it is dead on accurate I don't know. But I would not know if the new one is dead on accurate either.
I typically don't use it too...
At the end of 2012, had a few players from our team (really a few parents) felt they had moved beyond our team and were ready to join a big name org.
Was a shot to our team for sure because we, like you, had to replace them with rec players who needed a lot of work.
Parents are of course...
02Crush,
Around here I can tell you your situation is NOT unique. In fact it would be unique if you weren't going through that.
I agree the bigger orgs fair better, but I have also seen their teams fold completely as well and seen large orgs disolve down to a team or two.
We had a great year...
At times it seems my DD is starting to load a little too late and it causes her problems against the fastest pitchers.
Her bat speed is fine but it seems she is still shifting her weight back sometimes when the ball is in the air which makes catching up with it difficult.
When she times it...
Thanks for the replies
I "believe" this is EXACTLY what happened. It was freezing cold in the morning. Literally 32 degrees at game time. During warmups I think she taking it a little easy. During the game when she started bringing the heat was when it started getting high.
There is a golf philosophy which is that you never try to correct your mechanics during a game. If you have a slice, you play it.
DD struggled this weekend. She was consistent. Unfortunately she was consistently high. Her inside/outside was fine but the ball consistently crossed the plate at...
The first time I read this I thought you were talking about having the umpire blow on her hands. Then I figured it out. Getting slow in my old age. ;)
Worked with the Rosin bag this morning and it helped. But she had to use it every few pitches but it was enough that she got her grip back...
The balls are dry. I guess it is possible her hands are moist. She complained immediately it was a grip issue and that the ball was slippery. And I noticed it to. In the cold it gets rock hard and slick for me as well.
So picked up a rosin bag. DD has too much school work so we will be trying...
Unfortunately that won't be an option. First because it was difficult to get. Ordered it through Golfsmith last time. Wasn't out on the shelf anywhere I could find and kept getting back ordered. Probably took 3 weekds to get.
Second the moment she used it last year it was just bad. Would...
