Unfortunately many times rec ball umpires don't always know the rules (this isn't to say that there aren't any not-as-well-educated-on-the-rules umpires in TB either). However, you would think the interference/obstruction rules would be something they would know. You could always address it...
Big League Dream parks charge players a $1 "entry fee" and in return they receive a token good for $1 to spend towards food and beverage in their snack bar.
Is this how the coach normally behaves? Was the opposing team bunting/showing bunt repeatedly and was the third base player not crashing? Probably not the ideal way to handle it by wasting a timeout and walking on the field, but if that is how he is, there's not a whole lot you can do.
My...
It's been used effectively where you have a struggling hitter/good fielder and a good hitter/weak fielder combination. For example, a good pitcher who struggles at the plate can be flexed with a weak fielding DP that bats for her.
Take the alternate, use her as a runner. For the one that missed 2 practices, does she get one more strike or is she really off the team? Having 9 is tough, but at the same time could pull the girls closer as a team in facing that challenge.
Maybe change up your pregame warmup/routine. Do some extra hitting and/or team fielding drills to try and get them in a rhythm early so they are ready to go once they hit the field at game time. Early morning games are always tough, especially when the girls have to be at the field at 7:00 for...
For the first hit, maybe the scorekeeper felt that even if the second baseman had not bobbled the ball, would the runner still have beaten the throw. The second one sounds more like it should have been an FC, as he could have made a play to first but chose not to.
It is definitely a...
Easy there, I'm not criticizing anyone. We have no idea what these coaches know or don't know about the rules. Just because this parent decided to get involved doesn't mean the coaches weren't going to make an appeal. To imply that coaches who have apparently guided their team to an ASA...
Are you a coach? If so, do you have every single rule in the book memorized from cover to cover?
@Momo's Dad, I think you did the right thing. I'm with Jr10234 and want to know what the real drama was!
That's enough reason right there to leave. If your kid isn't happy and you're in a position to find another team, go for it. Why subject her to that if there's no real benefit other than being yelled at?
Hysterical. Makes sense now.
Classy.
I like PA SB Dad's idea of texting the night before to cancel, lol. Seriously though, that is just poor team management for which there's no excuse. I hope the coach continues to hear those crickets...
You haven't answered any of the important questions that have been asked by several members of this group and just continue to bash the coaches and other girls on the team left and right, even starting a new thread questioning whether or not pitching coaches are any good if they've never pitched...
