Intentionally hitting a girl?
I saw it once in 16u travel; top 2 teams in ASA that year in our area. Opposing catcher had an axe to grind against a few of our players. The whole game she was mouthing off, trash-talking against our girls. Our pitcher had enough and asked if it was ok to, you know, accidentally throw one...- blazerdad

Fastball frenzy or not?
It depends. If my pitcher is throwing the ball so hard that the batters can't catch up to it, then I'm throwing it. Probably more common the younger the age group. If the batter can hit the FB, I still might throw a FB but only as a change of pace - outside the zone to setup the next pitch. And...- blazerdad

Yes. That's how my daughter got recruited, twice. Posted them on YouTube and emailed the coaches a link to the video. Keep it short and simple.- blazerdad

Out of position at exposure?
Not sure I agree with 7smom about just explaining it to the college coaches. Problem is that pitching takes away from DD playing 3B where she needs to be seen and where she shines. I suppose it could work for some coaches, but some of these coaches have a few innings to watch and you'd hate to...- blazerdad

Seeing college softball differently
This is how my DD got recruited by a D1 and several DII schools. Simple video on YouTube linked in emails. I think the professional videos are overdone and if I were a college coach, I would get turned off by it.- blazerdad

How to subscribe to a thread
Why is there a requirement to visit the forum again, after receiving an email notification of a new posting, in order to continue receiving notifications of further replies to a post I subscribe to? Number of teams?
No doubt, we are running into that and we kind of expected it. Most of these kids have played pure rec ball or the park district travel teams. Number of teams?
We have the same thing, a local team who lists "College Players" as kids who played for the organization but are in school not playing. At least they actually mark which ones are really playing in college. But for some reason they list the others are just listed under "College Players." I guess...- blazerdad

Try-outs
I don't think anyone has mentioned this, but attend any softball camps the schools have during the year. Great one-on-one exposure and I know of several girls who have been 'found' that way. Also, make a skills tape, put it on You Tube, and when you email the coaches, attach a link to the video...- blazerdad

Paid travel coaches
We are looking to add some current or former fastpitch players to our travel teams. Any ideas what other organizations are paying them? For the current players can they even be paid? My daughter plays DII and she was told she can't accept money for coaching. Can they be reimbursed for expenses?- blazerdad
