There's no choice to make if you're uninformed.
Once you're informed, you're free to make a bad decision, but even that's subjective except for the most extreme situations.

Not learning about the decision that's being made is a choice. It is a choice to not research what they are doing.

Choose to do research or choose to remain uninformed.

This discussion about Pitch counts is a difficult topic because there are many pitchers who throw excessive pitches who do not get injured.

There are plenty of athletes/ softball players who participate and end up with soreness and strains. That have nothing to do with excessive anything. A lot of it could have to do with conditioning, training, recuperation time and a healthy body. Discerning those differences is difficult in topics like this.

Have always viewed the movement of most fast pitchers as a violent deacceleration of the lower body. The most serious injuries, maybe life-long, that I have witnessed are to the knee and hip of the stride leg. That kid is soon forgotten when they are unable to return to the pitching circle. 🤐

I like poetry.

People should do what they want to do.
That said,
Prefer people not complain and point fingers at others for the results of their own decisions.

Have known many pitchers.
Some who advocate for themselves and some who don't.
Choices choices choices.
It is really hard for a pitcher to say, “I do not want the ball”, Regardless of the reason.
This is an area we’re I think you always want the pitcher to want to pitch, but coaches/parents need to be the adults.

Not to mention is to many one weekend and/or cumulative? Is it back to back days and/or to many one day? Certain pitches have greater impact?
I think MLB has found a correlation between ramp up, year over year to injury but not sure.

Yes hopefully there is someone capable of making good decisions!

imo believe a lot of these situations the root comes from bad planning.
A lot of things fall under that category.

For instance usable pitchers on the roster and how many games are going to be played within a few days.
Example is going to a one-day tournament where possibly could be playing five or six games and only having two pitchers that's a recipe for a bad situation.

Team in Colorado played two games each day 4 days in a row.
How many pitchers does that team really need?
imo 2 is not enough.
But teams will show up knowing they only have two.

And maybe she lost the championship game and then went home and threw 100 more pitchers to straighten out her curve (I have seen that plenty of times).

Perhaps she has pitching lessons today.

You have no idea what her typical pitching load looks like in a week.
Maybe some adult should care enough about her to let her know that is unhealthy. Maybe her coach should care more about her than winning.

Our coach made a blunder on Saturday in Colorado. He warmed up my daughter four times before bringing her in for our toughest game. Her typical warm up routine is 50-60 pitches, so by the time she came in the game, she had already thrown 200-240 pitches. She had tendonitis of her pitching shoulder in May from overuse, so throwing that many pitches without throwing one in anger is concerning. And this was after having thrown at least 150-200 pitches each of the previous days.
I really don’t understand this. I see coaches warming up 4 pitchers before a game. Decide on a pitcher let her warm up and play ball. If she starts going downhill warm another up between innings. But if you are just warming up every pitcher you have before every game you should not be coaching softball.

Let's ask this question.

How many pitchers families want to be on a team where there are 4 pitchers?
Just depends. How many and what kind of tournaments are they going to play. If it is nearly every weekend and most tournaments will be 2 days double elimination tournaments and your team is better than average you probably need four. If we are only doing small one day tournaments single elimination playing one or two tournaments a month then four is probably to many.
