This is a grand slam she hit last week in our playoff game. It went just inside the left field foul pole About 230 ft. Sorry about the bad video .
Sh’s thinking hard line drive over the 2nd basemen to maybe score 2 runs.

Do you have any swings where there are adjustments made like a posture change, delay of launch, hands delayed or ‘pushed’. Or are there other subtle differences on how to adjust the HLP?

She uses the same timing or ball location adjustments as any other hitter does. The biggest difference I see is she tries to set the hands with her posture and take the arms out of the swing as much as possible and that leads back to TTB perpendicular to the forearm

The second reason I chose to teach HLP. All the other hitting styles didn’t have answers for the flaws I saw in hitters.
1. dropping the hands.
2. pushing the hands forward
3. dumping the barrel
4. Bat drag
5. pulling the front shoulder out.
6. lunging
7. how to hit the high and low pitch.
8. adjustability to fast and slow pitching.
it seemed like other ways were telling how not to swing instead of do this and you get this result. One worked backwards and HLP was going forward IMO. The challenge was understanding and breaking down how it was being taught because the hitting is so complex and inter related on many moves of the body.

I don’t think the core pattern is known for having any of these flaws. Correct me if I’m wrong. But if you don’t stretch the core you could have many of these flaws. Do you use the core w your pattern?

I would have done more drills like this sooner. Having a consistent position to launch the barrel from has help her to make consistent contact and cut down on her strikeout.

Mike, a brief question. Is this something you picked up from TM? This was once called, "The World's Greatest Drill" and I have my hitters to it as a primary station. We have stations where hitters do specific drill work for themselves and then drill work the team does. This is a primary drill all do. My dd was brought up doing this drill.

I’m not 100% sure but I don’t believe I got this from TM. I have several drills and thought that TM doesn’t agree with and we’re both ok with it.

I was speaking in general terms, specifically about kids that come across in my coaching. I‘m sorry but I’m not fully versed in the core pattern (never heard of it) and I think I’d be rude to you if I presented to be an expert on what you teach. As I stated before, I’m putting this on the board to help others avoid mistakes I’ve made. I’m not even comfortable calling myself an expert, just a helper with a little bit more experience than the next guy.

Sorry I couldn’t come up w a better name for ‘core’ pattern. I guess I could just say the HOF pattern. Heard of that one?
