Enter the zone early and adjust forward , you can't enter the zone forward and adjust back.. I totally agree with the Trout video seeing the different contact points. The HLP teaches you the mechanical movements of the body, you still have to figure out how to time and hit a ball. Just because you bought a new hammer, doesn't make you a carpenter.

I agree and disagree. Deep contact is important. But you enter the zone by what the pitch speed is. You don’t back everything up. Look at the torso tilt on both swings. Very different which changes when he enters. One is steep. The other not so much. Which is dictated by when he puts his front foot down. He sinks more on one than the other. Steep and shallow. Changes things.

When the pitcher has 4 pitches at 4 speeds with movement the swing will not be textbook very often. When facing the best pitching, batters have to guess, anticipate, look for, or pick a zone. The best hitters can be looking FB in but manage to hit slider away by adjusting mid swing. The swing will not be their BP swing. Mechanics are nice but the athlete with great eye hand / timing will always dominate. Ever see Vladdy hit the pitch that bounced. HOFer. We are not playing BP or tee ball.

One pitch is at the letters and the other looks to be at the knees. This is timing and pitch location. Having the adjustability to enter early or late, Ferris wheel or merry-go-round as a barrel path is definitely a plus. If your saying HLP hitters don't have that ability, I disagree. I agree that specific patterns and sequences have to be mastered or it can go bad just like any method of hitting.

Umm. The better the pitcher. The more you eliminate pitches or zones. mechanics are FUNDAMENTAL. You long or early? YOU’RE OUT! The approach to stay short gets you hits against good pitching. You see it longer. You get fooled less. You expand less.

I totally like this approach but it has to be practiced and conditioned in to the hitter thought process especially against better pitching. It looks like too many are yes-no-maybe in the box. yes-yes-ye....no or yes. Swing at a bad pitch once in a while. if you only swinging at great pitches your missing a lot of opportunities to hit good pitches great...

He is talking about loading late and getting the foot down early so I don't think you agree...or maybe you do..who knows ;)

Yeah. The foot down thing is relative to the ball. But it enables early foot down or a tad later. You’re timing your leverage through timing and the ball not a stretch etc. I think that happens as the foot gets down. Vertically and horizontally.
