i'll try some of the modern nonsense, but i really like the traditionally brewed stuff.....place like Allagash & Oxbow here in Maine, Hills Farmstead in VT, Prairie Artisan in Tulsa (of all places).......that's my go to

I believe I had an Allagash when I visited Maine years ago...dont ask me which one, it was years ago but I know it was pretty decent
stuff. Whenever I travel I always stop at local pubs and such so I can try local beers

The bitterness of a beer can't exceed 100 IBU by traditional brewing methods.
That's kinda what I thought but again, I'm a less hoppy, smooth ale kinda guy anyway so I haven't paid that much attention to that side of things. I do like my beer cold though, is that good? ;-)

Here's a link I found when looking up that Kraken beer... https://firstwefeast.com/drink/hoppiest-beers-of-all-time/

I live in a pretty small town and we have 3 pretty decent craft breweries to choose from, not to mention an old school, legendary brewery is just downstream a few miles where the "Banquet" is mass produced.

This thread is making me thirsty!! Honestly, I have never tried IPA's or many of the other things people are talking about. I alternate between cases of Yuengling Light and Land Shark. I guess that makes me a boring lager guy...

Nothing wrong with lagers. Light beer? that's another story.

I drink a lot of Yuengling when I go back to visit my dad in Audubon, PA.

I’ve recently (last few years) really gotten heavy into IPA’s and sours. Have a friend who works in the craft beer industry and he’s constantly sending me things to try. But, I can only drink so many before having to switch to a lager.

Yuengling and Land Shark are great. I’m also a Shiner Bock fan.

Never tried Shiner Bock. Are there any mild IPAs that you would recommend? I have never tried any because I'm not into the bitterness. Not a fan of dark beer either. I would prefer to drink a straight glass of Jack Daniels over something like Guinness. If I need a knife and fork for my beer, I'm not interested.

Others should have some options as well....but Two Hearted Ale has a lite version. I think it’s a low calorie version but to me tastes less heavy on the hops. Still good.

Deschutes has a beer called “Fresh Squeezed” that is really good. It has a more crisp and citrusy flavor. Still hoppy but not heavy in hoppy flavor.

Hazy IPA’s are also a good way to go. “Most” will have a citrus flavor to them.

Reading this stuff about beer is making me thirsty, too. I guess I'll have to have root beer as I'm still illegal to have a beer even though I turned 20 about a month ago.
