Do you ever see plays differently than other coaches?

Feel free to add parents to the title as well. Often during games, but a lot during practices - a ball is hit, and as the play unfolds, what I'm thinking or silently (or, admittedly, verbally!) encouraging the girls to do is often different than what my fellow coaches would either prefer or expect to have happened.

I see a ball drop 5-10' away from an OF that's running to get it, others will say "If you really ran hard for that one, it wouldn't have dropped". (To myself: "she was running hard, you may be overestimating her top speed!).

I see the OF double pump b/c the 2B wasn't looking at her yet, others are already yelling to "get it in!".

I guess I'm not really sure what the solution is - maybe this is just a minor vent, or maybe I'm the one with the rose-colored glasses? I'll definitely call an error when I see one, and I understand about the need to have high expectations / standards, but I'm curious to know if there are coaches who also feel as if they're watching completely different plays/games, based on the reactions of other coaches / parents.

Hmmm?
Is it seeing the play differently or different coaching styles?
See it the same, coach it differently.
...so yes that happens.

Good question. Look forward to other perspectives!

Not saying I am right here but I miss a lot of plays., I do not follow the ball most the time and sometimes need to ask what happened.

I expect the players to make the play, I am watching everyone else to make sure they are moving and in position if things go south for some reason.

I was an assistant at a D1 Mountain West Conference school. The head coach was one of the dumbest people I have ever seen in the sport. We had a 2B who was always splayed out on the ground around the base, ball in glove, toe on the base. She said, "Why is she always falling down?"
I explained, "Because the throws are so bad it is the only way she can keep the CF from getting exhausted." She was acrobatic in a game saving way but never escaped the coaches criticism. The coach was an idiot!
The problem was poor infield footwork; toes not lined up toward the target at release.

Here's one that always drives me crazy. Coach hits a tweener ball that lands between SS, LF, and CF. All 3 were on the run for it, but none could get there. Coaches always lose their minds saying "Why didn't anybody call it???"

Of course the answer is nobody called it because nobody could get to it. But it never fails, there will be yelling afterwards regardless.

Yes all the time. OF rarely does plays at 100% effort or at full speed. Cutoff not in the game that's asleep will be talked to as this should be drilled into kids as young as possible.

Sometimes players get lucky on a catch, throw play etc. With 100% wrong technique and get all kinds of kudos for a poorly executed softball maneuver. I try hard to teach the right way and again would be all over that lucky play. Happy they got lucky but dissatisfied with not doing what they've been instructed to do.

My bad - I forgot to add the caveat - "other than the plays we expect our own daughters to make..."

That ruins my reply... When I coached rec ball, I would call pitches for our team. I got so used to seeing their release point (especially my DD). That I would often make a quick fist pump no sooner the ball left her hand. I knew at that point that it would be a good pitch. The other coaches didn't understand how I did it. By 14u travel ball we moved to having our catcher's call the pitches. Although I enjoyed pitch calling, it is my opinion that the players should handle that portion of the game.
