Do you have a video of somebody following Trout's.. or any other pro's teaching on "down to" ? Just curious what "down to" means to you in a complete swing, a game swing, not a demo swing
I dont do videos, gifs, YouTube i do real life. Ive done real life a long time. I dont scour Google to prove my point. That's stupid.

My OPINION is that rarely if ever do professional athletes know and understand what they're doing, so when they try to teack someone its skewed. My opinion is based on my personal experience. I dont "guru"

Youtube is real life :). I have a bat, I pick it up, I swing it.. if that's what you mean by real life. Doesn't mean youtube is fake, or not real life. If I record my swing and publish it on youtube, that's still real life. What does that even mean?

Question, do you teach? or did you teach?

What do you think is more likely, the best in world don't know what they are doing, practice drills that actually hurt their performance, have hitting coaches with years and years of pro experience that don't know what they are doing etc etc.. or you just don't understand what they are talking about?

TBH Shawn, I like how he's able to adjust, but IMO that's not an idea swing. Looks like he's pushing his hands through instead of them getting pulled through. JMHO

It’s an adjustment, base hit. As in what clubs do you have in your golf club bag.

This is what it means to me

Here's Trout doing what he's demoing.. the demo is "hands in isolation", but still see his hands doing the same thing when integrated in the entire swing, the barrel(path) behaves differently because of the missing components

Great clips. The following frames after these clips is where the real swing departs from the Trout (and others like Bonds and Arod)demo. In the demo they continue to chop down past this point. In the real swings the lead arm usually levels and often starts to work up as the barrel works behind the pitch before contact (That's what this thread is about - cutting the ball or pure barrel).

What I am gathering is that many MLB players demo and description isolates the hands creating the idea that it is simply a chop. But when the core rotates correctly and shoulders are used correctly then the hands and barrel move forward and possibly even start to arc upwards as the hitter is working down. This allows the bat to move more on path with the pitch even as the batter feels they are using their hands to swing down?

That's what I am picking up.

No clue what that means..

Yeah it's a good adjustment.. and good contact considering the situation. But it's not an idea swing.. and I realize the hitter is not hitting off a tee. Just saying

Its too bad when people dont recognize perspectives outside their tunnel!
Recognize those are only searching for anyone to agree with them rather than acknowledge the responses provided.
Thats what limits growth of conversation and athletes!

Where does this go?

The hands are "down to or direct to", I don't always like to use "down to" because it depends where the pitch.. the strike zone is down so I think that's why it's overgeneralized.

Yes when the other missing components are added in (which we don't see in a demo) the path is affected.. it's what we see in a major league swing... these hitters hands are "down to", demo and game swing, the demo chop(barrel path) down through the ball becomes a chop through the ball matching plane or slightly upwards in a game swing. In the demo they are displaying hands in isolation, there's nothing to leverage against, bat speed is not evident, no posture and no sequence.

So I don't believe it's a feel, the hands are doing what they are doing in a demo.. however the path is most certainly not the same, demo vs game swing
