As long as you're not in NJ or plan on playing in NJ you can go to Logo.com and they will design one pretty cheap. I did my company logo there for under 100.

This probably won't work unless you're trying to confuse the scorekeeper.
Our association rolled out new logos this year and we just used a local sporting goods shop. They had internal designers and were pretty cheap. Cost us like $200 for some design work, different layouts for different uses like banners, profile icons, and so on plus we own the design so are not required to use them for apparel and so on.
I would suggest checking in with some of your local shops if there are any.

Ditch Fury and go with Murder Hornets! I want to start a team for dd just so we can be the ‘09 Murder Hornets! 
The Oddballs isn't a terrible team name. I may have to remember that one.
Agree with others...quick, easy, fairly inexpensive way is to use fiverr.com or logotournament.com are two sites to get a very professional, unique design created for you. I've done work on those sites and also some of my students. Gives individual designers more options for jobs/work. I'm not a fan of logo.com... very basic and bland, generic clip art type logos.
