Those parents are no different than any other parent taking their kids to tournaments.

Look at the number of people here who have said “We played and now have a player testing positive OR played against a player who was infected.

The article said they were waiting on test results, but didn’t say why she had been tested. Presumably she wasn’t showing any symptoms or the facility wouldn’t have let her in. Or was the facility not doing its job?

I agree with you @hipnix. But I extend that to every person involved.

Totally different. If they didn't know, then no one is looking at them sideways now. That's forgivable. But making the trip before you had the result in hand? There was no need.

My position: From top to bottom, regardless of what anyone felt or believed, everyone at that complex was following the rules we'd been given. Who cares if you thought it was overkill? To be allowed to have the event without it being shut down, everyone had to agree to the guideline set. And everyone did, except one family.

But to turn that around and blame the people who *did* comply for participating in the first place? C'mon now.

Totally agree. If you have reason to go and get a test, you have zero reason to leave your house until the test results come back. It's that simple. Unfortunately through all this, we are finding out that even simple is too hard for the stupid. 175 teams are scheduled to play in St. George at the end of August, we'll see how this act of selfishness by one family impacts that event. Wouldn't be surprised if the town pulled to plug.

In Washington County, Utah, there is a 94% chance that at least one person is infected at a gathering of 100 people. At 500 people that jumps to an “over 99%”chance.

Yeah, nobody else going to this was irresponsible for going.

I fully agree that the girls’ parents are idiots. Old man analogy in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... But if you sleep with every person you can and catch an STD, you aren’t blameless.

So ... if she had tested positive later it was OK. ??
1) I'm not going to debate this.

2) There is a rule set that governed this event. It doesn't matter whether one likes, believes in, or trusts the guidelines. The teams who wanted to have an event had to follow those rules.

I hope that everyone makes it home safely.

Just found out about some local So Cal TB teams playing using fields on Native American land/reservations. Apparently the mandate from the Gov. does not apply to NA land? Still pissed that Jr. Life Guards can have 100+ kids all stacked and packed together on city/county beaches but teams of 12 girls can't play softball on city/county fields.
