How do you know the flu vaccine didn’t work in some way? It might not have prevented someone from getting ill but it likely did help make the symptoms less severe and allowed their body a better chance of fighting the virus faster. Assuming it does nothing because people still get sick is not correct.

My kids got sick with the flu 3 years ago and it affected my oldest very hard where he was out of school for over a week. We had not gotten a flu shot that year. The next winter we did get the shot and my 2 healthier kids didn’t get the flu at all and my oldest only had a very mild case where he had a fever for 1 day vs the 6 continuous days the previous season.

We will be getting the Covid vaccine. Nobody should want to be sick for 2 weeks......

Can't prove that it works, not worth the risks, no thanks.

How do you know the flu shot worked? Their bodies could have naturally made antibodies last flu season.

Flu vaccine introduces virus into the body. For body to make anti bodies. There is a chance to become ill from this type of vaccine. It is also not full proof only 30-50%.
There are also multiple virus.
Would have to test while ill to determine which.
Polio has two different types of vaccines inactivated killed and attenuated live.
It appears a newer type vaccine is being worked on for cov19.

Why are we arguing about vaccines now? I don't see anybody saying that the stay at home orders need to be in place till a vaccine is found if that is what you are worried about. If you don't want to get it, don't get it.

It appears to me that some of you would argue with scientists if they came out and said ice cream tastes good...

I am never going to understand how people believe closing park trails, not allowing people to drive their vehicle more than 5 miles from their house (MI) or going fishing on a lake and many other stupid restrictions WHILE allowing people to go to the grocery store and home depot. I have visited and shopped at my local grocer and /or home depot at least 10 times in the past few weeks. Hundreds of people an hour, thousands a day, go thru these store, touching and breathing on surfaces and food and products. I caught myself grabbing/squeezing multiple avocados in order to get the ripe ones. If this virus is going to spread it is going to be at the grocery store not out on the lake. I think we are victims of people in authority liking to use their authority.

Also, have you read the ingredients of a flu shot?
I never get one and haven't had the flu in at least 10 years.

My son is immune compromised and gets hit hard every year by some illness. Every year. He gets the shot and still gets sick but not as bad as previously then I’m going to attribute that to what we did differently which is get the flu shot. It works for us so we will continue.

Do scientists always trust other scientists? Nope.

Here is Bill Gates saying we will continue to live under these social distancing conditions until the vaccine is available. (Big Smiles!)

1-2 years until manufacturing begins.

Yes scientists are always questioning other scientists work. That is what peer-review is for. The difference, however, is they are qualified to do so unlike a lot of talking-heads out there who probably had a hard time passing HS biology...

The guidelines put forth by most scientists (Bill Gates isn't a scientist...) for removing stay at home orders do not take into consideration a vaccine but instead use case numbers and the ability to test and contact trace. Those guidelines are purely health related and need to be balanced by economic impacts to make final decisions.
