When did it become politically incorrect to call "suicides" (running drill where you run to free throw line, half court line, other free throw line, and end line) suicides?
I haven't heard any complaints about the term "suicides" for this drill. Sometimes the backlash is much more wide-spread than initial complaint. I think anyone complaining a bunch on either side is absurd.
Call them "suicides", call them "progression sprints", call them whatever you want. Who cares?
Probably the same time that certain sports decided to change the overtime name from "Sudden Death" to "Sudden Victory"... I'm sure someone got offended by the name...
At the risk of being too politically correct, Suicide is the #3 cause of death in America for kids age 12-19, behind only accidents and homicide. So I have no problem calling them something else.
Problem is we have a huge group of people in this country that feel it is their role in life to tell everybody else what you should feel is offensive or not pc.
These people are miserable humans and aren't happy unless they are in a crusade against something. And if you disagree with them, YOU are wrong and you are
racist, sexist...yada yada.
Secondly, we also have a huge group of soft individuals, or as James said, snowflakes who this first group preys on.
Ha..my DD has conditioning at softball practice sometimes and one time she told me they did ladders. I don't stay for practice so I just assumed it was some conditioning drill that I never heard of. I was wondering
why she looked disappointed that I didn't know what they were and now I know why...I coached her in basketball last year and had her team do suicides at the end of every practice. She must have thought I was going senile.
