Yes, that's an easy way to put it. So is carry angle a good excuse for bat drag ? Imo it dosen't matter what causes it, it still isn't correct, right?

Sorry, I just don't like looking at every problem as 'black or white'. Sometimes there is some gray involved. Teach a hitter how to use their hands and wrists properly and 'bat drag' doesn't even need to be part of the vocabulary.

Think about it... If there was a manual out there that provided fool proof solutions to every possible hitting problem, why would anyone belong to these forums?

Bat Drag Hitting Mechanics | Baseball Swing Mechanics | Hitting Excellence

This IMO is a good article on how I view bat drag and why I mentioned it with this girl. Yes to me elbow in front of hands regardless of why is bat drag. To me it is in the hands, if the don't move or move when they should the elbow gets ahead. In the last clip of this young lady, her hands don't move forward until her elbow passes her hands and pulls them. I believe Butters mentioned she has to swing around her shoulder some, IMO because her hands didn't move on time. IMO if that isn't bat drag I need to start all over and forget everything I've learned.

From the article

A simple definition of bat drag is failing to bring the hands through the strike zone in the proper fashion to create optimal bat speed and consistency. This problem cause slow bat speed among other things and must be remedied if a hitter is going to make an impact in any league.

you’ll see his front hip begin to rotate slightly ahead of his hands as they begin their route forward. This is hugely important to get right in order to be able to bring the hands forward correctly. Hitters who fail to rotate properly cannot keep their hands moving in the manner they need to because their hips block their hand path.

hands begin to rotate you’ll notice that they move with his shoulders. Simply watch the front shoulder and the knob of his bat and you’ll see what I mean. There is no disconnect, they are moving at the same rate.
Again this is JMO and an article I like.

I believe what you are seeing is this hitter slots her elbow as her first move. Then her elbow gets 'pinned' to her side and follows her body rotation 'around' her body. Her elbow doesn't lead her hands through out the whole swing. Which to me would be bat drag.
Example of 'Bat Drag:

No, that's extreme bat drag. ^^^^^^

We will just have to agree to disagree on the other.

Thanks for posting the article. Seems we just have a slightly different way of looking at this particular topic. Nothing wrong with that...

Thanks and I agree with you. That's what keeps things interesting and makes for good conversation.

Yes I said that - but the answer is not hand activity. Lower the hands - engage the forearms correctly, keep doing what she is doing wrt the rest of the body and the perceived bat drag will be a non issue. Good thing she has some time to get these things corrected.

I don't mean move them as turn the barrel, if you think that's what I meant (not sure). I was referring to moving forward as arm is slotting.
