I'll comment later, right now I am looking for a post I made on another forum about Obamacare...jeez, I am not as qualified a politician as Obama, and I am no doctor, or insurance expert, I didn't even post a video of my son giving his 2nd grade presentation, wth was I thinking making a post. OH wait, I made a post on a Chevy forum about the fix I did on my Tahoe, I'm not a car builder, what was I thinking? Then theres the gardening site...boy following you guys' rules of who is allowed to post and what they are allowed to post when they can is a lot of work!

If you would have asked me, I would have helped you on all of the above. Not an expert on the swing. However, on the stuff you mentioned, ...

Just read another website where "... among the five commissioners on the Federal Communications Commission will vote to regulate the Internet under rules written for monopoly utilities." RHC, I'll go ahead and regulate myself. Seems I stir things up too much. Now about that gardening, ...<img class="noBorder" src="http://community.hsbaseballweb.com/fileSendAction/fcType/12/fcOid/2982475074711194/fodoid/2982475074711195/imageType/MINI_THUMBNAIL/inlineImage/true/7091060941avatar" alt="" data-mce-src="http://community.hsbaseballweb.com/fileSendAction/fcType/12/fcOid/2982475074711194/fodoid/2982475074711195/imageType/MINI_THUMBNAIL/inlineImage/true/7091060941avatar" height="43" width="32">

I don't believe any dad would do otherwise. However, what determines the high level swing? Does an "expert's" opinion on this site make Geri Ann's swing less than high level? Also, do you think that Coach Glasco looks at his daughter's swing and thinks it is terrible? Do you think he used a different system than the system that has gained him a tremendous reputation as a hitting coach? I recall this one dad and his model student who, in his opinion, matched Bond's swing and was THE MLB Swing. That didn't work out so well.

Paul Nyman once said that we are only capable of seeing what we are capable of seeing. That's a great statement. One might look at the ULL players and see what they consider to be high level MLB swings while another might look at those same swings and see totally the opposite. Of course I'm open to having the "experts" here post their work and show all of us their methods that have produced that high level swing that guarantees success.

Edited to add:

In anyone's opinion, how many videos of any given hitter would have to be viewed before judgement could be passed on that player's swing? Is one, three, five, ... enough?

CB - I like your DD's swing better than my DD's swing. I like Bustos' swing better than your DD's. My decision to model my DD's swing after Bustos doesn't mean your DD's swing is terrible or that her success isn't hard earned and tangible. Likewise, if I chose to model after Miggy instead, that wouldn't mean Bustos' swing was terrible either! IMO, critiquing swings only becomes a problem when the critiquing strays beyond mechanics, unfortunately that often is where it ends up.

GM, no I don't. I like Miggy also so we agree. I tried to use Pujols for my dd's swing model. Is she close? NOPE. Still, it was what we did. Keep in mind that I never said that anyone said that Geri Ann's swing was "terrible." I simply stated that I'd suppose her dad wouldn't think her swing was terrible. Funny how stuff gets distorted like that.

Take care,

Darrell

It all boils down to whether or not your strong enough in your hitting philosophy to post your hitters or not. Personally I don't care if someone criticizes it.

There's A LOT of people who make comments on here but never post their work. To me that's dishonest. Post your work and show posters how your philosophy has worked out for your DD or quit commenting on others work.

Anyone can regurgitate hitting mechanics and philosophy, let's see how you implement your philosophy. Now when it comes to a student I totally respect their privacy and its up to their family to give permission to post.

I can't count the # of videos I've posted on here about my DDs journey and I won't stop. Is she perfect? NOPE but I'm pretty damn happy with where she's at right now.

I would love to see more of the advice givers on here post their DDs swings. Show us all what you teach and let the dialogue begin.

Crankermo, I find the claim of dishonestly interesting …. Especially coming from someone such as yourself.

Perhaps things have changed … but I recall you taking advice from certain people that you didn’t have such information on (i.e., you didn’t have examples of their hitters). IMO you were able to do that with success because you were capable of performing the verification work.

FFS, your dd played at a high level but you too had to feel the criticism of your child at some points on your journey. It would be nice to see from you or others some video of what you did when xxxxxxx happened and/or you see that in other poster's dds. I do understand why you don't post video. I don't blame you and do know your history of success. Still, to say that here is the problem and here is a MLB Player video with the solution doesn't always apply when measuring our dds versus those MLB Players. The request is reasonable but when RHC post that he has talked to his dd and she says no, imo, that has to be respected.

As many of you know, I posted a lot of stuff on my child. I started when she was 10 and on sites like Englishbey's website and BBF. I made a promise to one of the owners of BBD that is I made a video off of my dd's recruitment video, I'd post it. I kept my promise and did post it. I would have to say that I would do it again since along the way, I got a lot of opinions on her swing. There is a saying in the horse business that a horse owner can become, "barn sour." That means that they are too close to the horse to see the flaws in the horse. IMO, that can happen with parents and coaches as well. Still, the path I chose for my dd was one which others were severely critical but of which I understood the methodology, cues, ... The end result was one where we (dd and myself) were happy. I wish that for all of you. Somehow, I have gained a reputation with some members here as to stirring the pot. My initial statement and the subsequent statements were pretty harmless imo. Still, somehow they have been taken in a different way. I'm at the end of my journey with my dd. I want to wish you the best on yours.

Chris,

You and I have had several talks over the years and they have been good talks. My point is if people are going to critique other kids swings they should also be under the same microscope that's fair IMO. I don't care if people critique my DDS swing and I never have but some people do. It's easy to critique someone else when you/your DD don't have to face the firing squad and I think that's dishonest and disingenuous. Doesn't mean that I don't think a particular poster doesn't understand hitting but I want to see how the philosophy is implemented.

If people would share their journey more kids could learn but everyone is scared to face the firing squad. To ask someone else to do what you are afraid to do yourself is complete BS. I used to post on here a lot but there's not a lot of video shared anymore just people commenting on others and I don't think its right.

It's like a soldiers bond, blood spilled on the battlefield makes you understand where that person is coming from and where they want to get. Just my opinion

I have posted video, 5 or 6 of them I believe. Up through about 2 1/2 years ago. Then my dd said don't.

RHC,

Believe me when I say I do understand people's hesitation about posting video but to me it's the most important teaching tool there is. When you open yourself/your DD up to criticism it can open your eyes and make you change your thinking and in turn become a better teacher by doing it.

One thing I notice is wide stance and then big step. Hard to get good weight shift if you have both.
Wide stance short stride or narrower stance bigger step.

Howard does width of shoulders outside to outside then 1/2 again, then plus or minus 2 inches.

Say outside of shoulders are 16 inches. Half again...24 inches. Start there center to center of toes. increase or decrease 1-2 inches to see how swing works.

I mostly end up plus 2 for some reason.

A very explosive swing. Athletic and strong kid. I'd love to see this hitter get a hold of one in a game!

Still, this looks like a tee swing and not a game swing. I am betting her game swing is better.

Often kids, especially when being filmed, try to kill the ball off the tee. All the typical symptoms appear here: back foot is pointed too far backward, I feel shoulders over rotate and arms get too far around back shoulder, bat wrapped around head, too much weight on back leg and thus a big lunge toward ball.

In games with hands that far back and lunging like that it's not going to work against good pitching.

When doing tee work, form is king. The ball isn't going to go out of the park, it's going to go into the net in the garage.

Booth
I think her body movements are fine.

But, she does what many girls do. Her bat is horizontal in her stance and at launch. Get the front elbow down more and lift the barrel up.
