My 12U travel team played a benifit game last night against a travel baseball team. They pitched us baseballs and we pitched softballs...... We scored 5 (run limit) every inning and my pitchers stuck out EVERY one of them. Had one boy foul one off....My girls are ALWAYS getting "the business" from boy baseball players at school about "how much easier softball is than baseball" My girls came with a chip on their shoulder and they taught them a lesson.
I also pitch fast pitch and after the game the baseball coaches wanted to show their boys that it wasnt hard to hit the "big yellow ball" so I pitched to 5 of them. I hung a rise ball to one and he weakly hit it to my shortstop but that was the last one they touched. Needless to say they all left with a new found respect for the game of softball...

A story that repeats itself season after season. How sweet it is! My DD still challenges the baseball players in her school to step into the box. Unfortunately by the time they get to college they know better. :)

Yep, happened to me in the mid 90's. I was batting over .400 on the HS team and was known as a contact hitter that rarely K'd. I'd never heard of fastpitch softball at the time. A girl started school that came from California and she pitched. Needless to say, she made me look like a fool. I fouled several off, but didn't square a single ball up out of about 15 pitches. Talk about a humbling experience. haha After she was done with me, none of the other guys would even step in the box with her. :)

I couldn't pick the ball up out of the her hand and from 40 ft., it was too late when I did.

The good news is that you are in very good company as pretty much every MLB legend has been schooled in a similar fashion.

It would be interesting to see you play them in straight baseball. Given a week or 2 of practice I bet you could find a couple of pitchers that would just blow the hitters away with a baseball. One of these days I want to take my DD up to hit some BP at the little league fields. I need to find a day when no one is parked behind RF fence.

During school, my DD pitched a tennis ball to the boys swinging a plastic bat. It didn't take long before she was striking them out pretty often. She said it's so much more fun to strike a boy out than a girl.

Give the girls 2 weeks of practice for a full baseball game. Then give the boys 2 weeks of practice for a full softball game. I'd bet the girls hold their own much better than the boys hold theirs.

Ok, so you are saying if you take the FP softball pitcher, give her a baseball and pitch from baseball distance, she will embarrass them?

Not here.
HR swing from a Men's ISC Tournament.

Why is he able to hit softball pitching?
This pitcher is far better then a 12 yr old girl and the best college softball pitcher.
Give a pro baseball player a couple of practices on the pitching and most would light them up.

I think at 12U which is still 46 foot LL distance you could find a couple of pitchers on a good 12U TB team that would pitch well enough to beat the boys. Going up to 60.5 feet would be much tougher.

Give some NPF players no practices on the pitching and most would light them up.
