Who is in favor of the following changes to our beloved sport?

Changing Age up Date to June 1st as opposed to January 1st so that it is formal and player ages up in the fall. I am always listening to people speak of "moving up" to prepare for the next age level for Spring. However the reality is that we see coaches playing down (even if only for half the events) in order to win more in the fall. It is commonly referred to as a "confidence booster". Should place players in the position to "move up" in order to make things the way that so many of us say we believe it should be?

Making each age bracket single age to equalize experience levels?
Example: 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U then moving into HS ages.
This is done in baseball and works well to balance competition and experience level.

Just wonder your thoughts?

I am not in favor of either. 

I like the simplicity of the age rule, DD’s birthday is in June so she would be affected but she has always moved up in fall anyways. At least 1 Player on DD’s club is going to play with next year is staying back this fall, I do not care. Almost all the Players are in their spring age group. I did not enjoy DD moving from 8U to 10U, more than ½ her Team moved up in the spring. DD competed OK, I just did not like most the Team disappearing. That is a club Issue, not a rules Issue. Other clubs players and clubs can do what they want.

Our club would not have enough players for the individual age groups. We need the 2 year span to have enough players.

Not in favor of either...I may be convinced of the age being as of Sept 1...There simply are not enough girls in our area to support the single year age group...

What I would be in favor of is changing the age groups to odds years ie 11U,13U n 15U...Main reason is 14U is such an bad break point,..Mixing MS eigthth grader with HS aged girls is not in the best interest of the younger girls(or myself as a parent)...Leaves the MS(13yr olds) without a team March, April and May while there HS teammates play there HS schedule...There are no MS sports in my area..

Definitely not in favor. As the old saying goes, "Don't change horses in midstream." If the cutoff age ever changed, it would mess up just about every team out there.

Currently, it's easy. If a girl was born in 1999, say, you know she needs to be on a 14U or higher team. And teams tend to try to ask for players born in a certain year, so they can all stay together. So that first year 14U team is supposed to split into two teams: one with the 99s born before June 1st and one with the 99s born after? And somehow each of those teams would find the other players they need by picking up 98s born after June 1st and 00s born before June 1st from other disentegrating teams? It would be a nightmare.

I admit, it would be nice to have tb teams where the girls were arranged by school year, but that isn't the way it is and getting there from the current system (which works!) would never be worth the havoc IMO.

If a team is playing within the age group of that team how is this "playing down"? As far as I am concerned, as long as the coach, parents and players are happy, why should we care? If you want to play up go for it.
