I'm interested in the answer to the original question...also what can you do with hips popping out instead of rotating...I have been told both ways as well...hips rotate after release...hips before release...rotate being around 35-50 degrees...I would love some input on the hips popping rearward to clear a lane for the ball...I have worked this for a while

The hips do not "pop" rearward or "pop" open.

The hips open naturally before the shoulders by the angle created between the front leg and the drive/drag leg.

A batter initiates the swing with the hips...So before! But we could also argue when the swing starts.

And if you thought you could argue about that in this forum, you would be wrong.

A newbie comes in and starts thread with a very specific question about pitching? And only posts once?

Yeah...right.
