    Ringor Pitching Cleats

Ditto above responses... bought my daughter turfs and spikes..... they are amazing..... little pricey but worth it!

How many games/tournaments did your dd play in this year?

I'm thinking 70-80 games is probably plenty. I think the Law of Diminishing Returns has to fall in there somewhere. First Gallon of Ice Cream tastes pretty good, but beyond that it isn't quite as tasty. LOL Of course, I say that is plenty for the girl (not parent) who loves softball and enjoys...

    What to do?

Drop back 10 and punt! First of all Coaching mistake one - don't promise anyone anything. Work hard and earn your spot. Second encourage kid to want to play other positions. Give it some time - 1st year team your daughter should mention to HC that she would like some more circle time...

    Coach Rant

Dang, I thought this was one of my parents ranting about my coaching last weekend! LOL Crap happens the quicker you get over it the better. Move on crazy things happen in sports..... IE like the best team doesn't always win:)

    Post tournament soreness

Ok, not sure anyone has mentioned this but mechanics???? Bad mechanics can cause tightness and soreness.... Just a thought!

    Cuts on fingers

Need advice on the best way to part ways with my dd's pc

Don't burn the bridge! Be nice and move on :)

So, What do you expect your coach to do?

I am with cannonball! HS coaching is pretty much a thankless job. I would expect the TB coach to give my dd the extra time and experience that she wants and needs to be a great HS player. I expect her HS coach to play the best 9 and support her and her teammates in becoming better players...

How Much Buy-In Does a Coach Need?

I think one thing that hasn't been discussed is $ and time. Level A to C is in many cases about $ and time spent. Much like DI to DIII, there i am sure players at D II and D III that could be playing D I! With that said the coach needs to be honest with the amount of money and time he is...

How Much Buy-In Does a Coach Need?

I have a new 14U team with only two girls who have played travel before. We have registered C, but have scheduled a mixture of B and C tournaments. I think what most of you are talking about speaks to the integrity of the coaches and organizations. Doesn't matter ASA or USSSA you run into...

12u winter practice frequency & intensity

Interesting FrozenRope this is just what happened with us last summer. Started our own team in the fall and played our first tournament last weekend. Went 3-1 lost in semifinal. Old organization started strong, but fizzled due to the lack of leadership and the fact nobody above really cared...

Coach upset with DD for going to Homecoming

Double wow!!! If he can't come up with more than 8 not counting your daughter he shouldn't be taking a team anywhere.

Coach upset with DD for going to Homecoming

Amen to that! Wow all this for a kid missing.... Sounds like alot of messed up priorities...... Plenty of notice, plenty of life to live, plenty of bull crap if coach can't find a player. Suggestion: Coach should build a bridge and get over it! REALITY folks get some. I didn't see where this has...

    No warmup!!!

You guys all seem to be whining! How many of you coach for real in real game situations? Don't get me wrong warm up is important, but sometimes the wheels come of the cart quickly. Sometimes plans change and situations dictate a different move. If a coach consistently does this then there is a...

    Falling out with PC

Run, run, run.... I am an elementary teacher and the father of a 12 moving to 14u TB as a #1. I have done most of the pitching instruction myself and used this board and others for my knowledge. Shorts spurts are best for this age. There are times we only get 15-20 minutes in of practice. IMO...

Freshman pitching varsity struggling with throws to first

Grounder back to dd pitcher 12U, girl hitting had played against us several times. She is still standing in box when my dd throws the ball 10ft. over 1st baseman's head. Right fielder backs her up, throws girl out at first! Enough said, "it is a team game and $hit happens".... You win some &...

8 year old looking for "simple" drills and tips

Hal, I am with you. I'm not saying anything about size or the prototypical pitcher! My daughter is small for her age both height and weight and yet can bring it pretty darn good with what others have described as excellent mechanics. My point is after all the coaching some kids are going to...

8 year old looking for "simple" drills and tips

God created men and woman equally, some are just more equal than others. I know this is hashed out somewhere else in a thread. If the young lady isn't blessed with some god given talent it doesn't matter who the PC is! Coaches in general get to much credit for success, as well as failures...

8 year old looking for "simple" drills and tips

Once again she is 8! Unless you are loaded with cash, most of that money will be going down the drain. Unless she is a super focused 8, then spend a yr or so yourself throwing the ball around with her. I also teach school and the attention span of most 8's are about 8 minutes....:)

8 year old looking for "simple" drills and tips

Ok, I am far from a pitching expert, but have coached every age level and sport you can name for the past 28yrs. Currently have a dd that is pretty good at 12U travel. This girl is 8. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A PITCHING COACH. Yeah some of these guys on here are good pitching coaches with...
