Is this the key to the MLB hitting "process"?

...you develop a strong power source...it takes you to a high level...then your high level opponent uses your greatest asset and turns it into your greatest disadvantage....

That throw was flawed from the beginning.

So was the swing...

redhotcoach,

I'd love to hear your take on the swing instead of phone booths and judo throws...

In the Braun gif, look at the people behind him in the clip. His head begins at the top of the girl's head next to the guy with his hand on his face. Then it's at her chin at contact. thoughts? That relaxation of the muscles allows for the powerful turn he generates. But it's a downward move for sure. I love Braun's swing.

Chas, thanks for posting your hitter and the discussion. That's a LOT of momentum in the swing you posted. Now you say she's "calmer" in her move out. Was there a reason you introduced the momentum in the first place, ie, for feel purposes re: weight shift, etc? Just curious. One problem that I see in jumping out to her front leg is that she actually rotates around her front leg rather than rear..

I believe in athleticism in softball and baseball swings. Most of the hitting theory I see is rigid and slow. Mechanical and robotic. I want my hitters to be fluid and natural. To move with confidence and clarity.

My main background as a child is in basketball, the most athletic and fluid strength and speed sport. I wanted to incorporate the fluidity and power from that into a swing. I see no reason why increased athleticism would hurt a hitter.

Do the mouse test. Put the pointer on both hitters heads and see what is different. Then you may understand the "phone booth" that RHC speaks of?

First off. Welcome, I apologize for your first welcome. I fell back into old posting habits.

I believe Braun's head is pulling back with the continuing pull back of his scap and lower back.

What you talk about in your Cano vid...and I am sorry I watched about a minute of it, I believe you say a "powerful hip thrust by the muscles of the abdomen." I see the hip socket coming forward to do the battle of the rear leg internally rotating and the upper half resisting the turn and pulling back. The weight is shifting with the swing, not shifting then swing.

I believe the legs are the lower half and the upper half includes a hitter's hips in a high level swing. A persons upper body rotates by use of the core muscles, which include the abs and lower back. If a high level hitter's hips are being thrust open by their ab muscles, how does this occur here with Bautista? Can't both thrust open, and resist opening at the same time.

The girl. I simple do not believe with her swing, a hard push into a proverbial gate post, and rotating around it, is the ideal swing to be working toward. I know you say in the vid that "she has not made the decision to swing yet", but I don't see it. What do you do when you have pushed hard into a gate post, and it is an off speed pitch, you pushed a fraction of a second too early....how do you develop power now?

Once again, if you here to post, I apologize for my rudeness...some come here to just advertise.

Momentum article (Baseball) - YouTube

Sorry for my ignorance...you included this link to your video...what are you trying to teach in it? It is not clear to me.
