Winter workouts: Start now or in January?

Same with my DD no set schedule.When DD and myself have free time (2,3 or 4 days a week) we go to the garage to work on hitting or the gym to practice pitching.Light work outs.I wish she could rest but she needs the practice especially hitting.Alot of competition for starting positions on her team.
