Off topic a bit, but what are your thoughts about giving a catcher a break? When we played tournaments hot or humid weather, we always tried to limit how many games our primary catcher would play. I think it is fair to say that the physical toll on a catcher is greater than most other positions on the field (with the possible exception of the pitcher).

We have never had a primary catcher, we just alternate catchers each game defensively no matter what.

They still have to earn their ABs in bracket play like everyone else though.

What I dislike most is when pitchers get pulled for a couple of innings, then go back in to the same game to pitch again - especially when it’s early in the season and it’s cold out.
Haven't seen it very many times, but when it happens, that re-entered pitcher doesn't seem to fare as well. Just my anecdotal view.

No more then 2 games in one day or 3 games in two days. Would be a good start. Those 2 games can not be back to back.
So proximity of 80 to 90 pitches per game that's 160 to 180 pitches per one day. Plus warm ups makes that over 200.
( but viewing it as games rather than pitches it may not be the accurate way to go)

Hmmm🤔
Not Sure that's limiting pitch count from what already happens.

Our 18u team had 3 catchers. All 3 were recruited to play in college. One catcher, one at 3b, and one in CF. All 3 were starting catchers for high schools in our district. Our default was to play them in their college positions, but we would alternate at times.

Some kids are throwing 300-400 game pitches a day..
Yes. You commented less than 150 daily. Two games could possibly be more than that.

Then the question becomes what is the limitation number going to be and how will that affect rosters.

Had asked the question how many pitchers families want to play on a team with four pitchers?

Point being
If there were pitch limitations implemented.
Since, at times, teams don't know how many games they are going to be playing until they start playing. Or how many pitches they will be throwing,
I don't think only have three pitchers with pitch limitations is going to work.

Need parameters to help Define this discussion to see it's possible cause and effect.

In the short term, the pitch count limitations would likely have a cascading effect resulting in less teams. Maybe eventually that would turn into the same number of teams as now with more (quality) pitchers..

💥 BOOM 💥 🏆🎉

Agree The need for more pitchers.
But would that equate to more quality pitchers? Hmmm not sure 🤔
More teams didn't mean more quality teams that is for sure!

Kids would get more game work at a younger age. Coaches would have no choice but to use them vs riding the kid who grew early and throws harder than everybody else. That doesn't necessarily mean they will be good as they get older but at least they won't quit out of frustration..

Yes more game work.
Not sure if that means less frustration or quitting from it.
