I played my whole senior season on a torn meniscus and severe bone bruise on my ankle. I was 17, it was my last season, my parents knew what was wrong and left the decision up to me. Was it painful at the time, absolutely. But I don't remember the pain now, I remember hitting a home-run at districts to clinch a state berth. I remember hitting the game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh of an elimination game at state and getting to play on. I'm not saying that it is always right to let a kid play through injuries, but sometimes you have to let them decide what is worth it. For me, looking back on those memories is worth it, where as quitting would have plagued my mind for a long time.
